It ain't always about the Big Guns...

Last week I saw a 07 GSXR1000 pull 185 hp on a dyno using motor only. Turns out it was a street racer that just bought a Carpenter racing engine ($10,000) that was expected to pull at least 200hp on the motor only. This was the first pull and they figured on changes made to tire pressure, chain tension, and map tweaking it would easily pull 200 hp. There was also a 40shot of nitros hanging off the side also.

2008 Kawasaki ZX-10R first dyno test: 170bhp at the wheel!

FULL STORY IS HERE.....

Who really knows but makes you stop and remember that the Big Suzuki and Kawi aren't the only players on the field. The liter bikes keep pumping up the HP faster than our beloved ride!
Just like I mentioned awhile back.....the new 10's gonna be breathing down the big boys necks on the street

I won't be suprised if the new 10 posts some of the quickest 1/4 times ever

And the torque?

I have an 06 with the Full Akra, PCIII, custom map, that pulled 164. My stock Busa (08) pulled 169. But when you over lapped the 2 charts, the Busa was getting there 2000 rpms quicker.
Now that I have the exhaust on the Busa it pulled 187. Which is another point about these big cc bikes. Looks like they respond even better to an exhaust system.

The stock 08 Busa exhaust was a heavy steel crappy looking set up. The stock 06 ZX-10 had a pretty darn sweet titanium set up.

Can't get too hung up on peak HP numbers.

When I have my 08 tuned/mapped I want mid range to be the focus...

About two or three years ago an artical in Motorcycle Mag. about torque (busa) and 10K bikes. The torque of the Busa x 1st gear = over 900lbs of torque at the rear wheel and the 10K bikes 600-700lbs. All gears the Busa pulled harder on the dyno. Would like to see the same artical with the new 08's.

I feel like im ridin a razor scooter when i ride 1000's

as for all that hp talk....bottom line is it still comes down to the rider
