It finally turns now...

Well, I have been uninspired with my genII busa in the twisties for a while. But I think I worked it out...

While I DID get my forks worked on and put a Penske in the back, the BIGGEST, BY FAR difference was taking 2 links out of the stock chain and getting the rear wheel all the way forward (2 links pushes it to the stops in the swingarm). And no, it won't rub anything, and yes I got it up to 180mph (per speedo) to make sure the rear tire didnt expand and rub anything:laugh:

I just used my chain breaker and took em off, then went to the dealer and bought a new press fit master link and done...About $15.00.

I would recomend adding the 1" dog bones in the rear and getting a new top triple clamp so you can drop the forks 1/4(watch clearance dropping more than that though).

It will wheelie quite a bit easier now too, which I LOVE...Still not like a gsxr 1K, but MUCH closer...Maybe 25% lighter when on the gas hard. Its GREAT:thumbsup:

you might be surprised, according to some of the "stretch" riders, the busa corners like a gixxer at +4 or more

How much did you notice the Penske on the back? (only thing I lack at this point)

What did you get done to the front forks? Whose triple do you plan on using? I would like to improve the handling some on this big girl! I know it isnt a gsxr1k. I have one and can tell the difference!

Adding two or three teeth to the rear sprocket achieves the same results!

Buy yourself an adjustable Ohlins rear shock and forget about the dog bones. Also comes with easy one handed preload adjuster for days when you happen to pick up a fat chick on the way home!

Just get a 1000 for the curves.

actually good info for those out there not fortunate enough to have a different bike for every day of the first two days of the week.

My penske shock is adjustable, and it DID raise the rear a bit...So that, coupled with the dog bones made a nice improvement. I was just going to do the shock and no dog bones, but a track day and a scraped fairing made me change my mind and ad the dog bones (Very happy I did).

The Penske shock is great if you like to fiddle (I do) and its a bit stiffer than stock (but thats just the spring). If you dont do track days, I would just get the dog bones...Unless you like the slightly better handling (not worth it for the money if you only ride street) and the stickers that it comes with:laugh:.

The triple clamp...Everybody makes them, and im not even sure what brand I have to be honest...I bought a middle-of-the-road one. Easy swap though, and I have the front dropped about 1/4.

OH- And a HUGE improvement on braking when make these changes and get the weight over the front more. I have a Brembo/ss/hh pads set-up and it used to just lock up and skid the front under hard braking. Now the rear end gets light and slides a bit more like a 1K...Did I mention how nice the wheelies are too!?
