So, the place I work had the semi-annual motorcycle safety roundup today here in Jacksonville, Florida. They usually do it during Bike Week and Biketoberfest. Basically, everyone at work rides their bike to work and we have safety training, usually given by an MSF instructor or at the very least, our most senior cyclist. Anyway, after the training/brief, everyone goes out to have their bike inspected for safety using the T-CLOCS worksheet. I passed my inspection (since the Busa is so awesome), but I did point out to them that I didn't have reflectors. I only have 4K miles on mine, so everything is still like new (garage kept).
After the inspection, we all rode down to Daytona (the scenic way) during working hours! So, instead of working, I was riding, which was really nice. It's good to get a break from work like that! I think I may have to go and club a baby seal if I have to deal with one more stupid user...ummm...errr...I mean...nice, smart, person (I work in IT).
It's kinda funny to see the Busa mixed in with so many Harleys and Cruisers. Most of the folks I work with have cruisers, but there are a handful of sports too.
On the way down, we stopped at a gas station and this older, hippie-looking guy (possibly homeless) walks over to where all 40 of our bikes are parked and folks are standing around bs'ing. He takes a look at several of the Harleys and seems less than interested then...BAM!...the Orange/Black Busa jumps out at him and he makes a bee line to it mumbling "busa...Hayabusa...nice", in a grovelly, old, half-drunk, voice. He spent the rest of his time there checking out my bike. It does stand out quite a bit. I have the only Busa...others have 900RR, GSXR1K, etc.
We also did the Poker Run thing too. I gave up when I drew 9C, 4H, 2S on our first three stops. I wasn't going to win much with THAT!
Is Saturday night the big night for sport bikes at the Hess? Anyone know?
Anyway, sorry for the long story...here are some pics!
