Just how long should my busa last

Just hit 5500 on my 05'. Why have a bike if you're not gonna ride it you know? Seriously, I see 3-4 year old bikes with 1500 miles on them for sell all the time. Maybe that's why they are selling them?

Any one know what the resale value of Busa is with higher miles? I'm curious incase I want to trade in for a newer one. Are busas genrally known to be reliable longer into the miles in the bike community?

i could only hope to throw that many miles...i had 58,000 on the vmax...and 60,00 on the kz750 and 25,000 on the duck

My current ride has a reputation of being reliable, if slightly higher maintenance than a Busa.

100K miles on a Ninja 250

Compression on the Busa is 11.0, Ninja is 12.4. Stock Busa with 17/40 runs 3.5K at 65mph. Ninja runs 14/45 stock, and goes 8.3K at the same speed.

Hey, if a Kawi can do it, so can a Busa. I can't wait to read about someone spinning the clock on a Busa.

I have a 99 Busa with 67K kms (?? 40K miles)
I bought it a year ago. When I did, I read a review in a magazine about how the engine is built to do well over 300K kms (180K miles) before needing new rings or valves, etc... and that's if you ride it hard!

I suspect Busa engine is one heck of a design, very reliable and long lasting.
Can see it will rebuild nicely. Also plentiful supply of used engines on the market.
Chasis wheel bearings, rotors, fork rebuild.

Used some sludge detergent oil for 1k miles. It looked nasty in the pan. At 26 k miles engine runs excellent. Pack the bearings every tire change, they are good. Rotors are good near three brake pad changes. Gotta get to the forks and swing arm one of these days.

I enjoyed reading this thread..

Before I bought mine I was reading this and other sites big time and actually got to talk to a Busa owner one day.

He explained all that I wanted to know about the bike and he had some good mod advice and seemed coherent on the subject in general.

BUT he did tell me that the motors will only be good for about 20 or 30 thousand miles... Saying that they are high performance, high compression and not like the usual inline fours and twins found on other bikes that tend to last forever.

I took his word as the truth and have since been watching the clock wind up....
Hope you guys are right as I am very nice to mine and I dont want it to die that soon

Gunnybusa has over 50k on his Busa and reports it to still be running strong

Not sure, but thats not the motor

Lol i bought the extended 5 year warranty so i plan on running it hard all the time so maybe i can get my money's worth out of the warranty if they need to do an engine rebuild.
