kickstand

Maybe it's just my bike but the kickstand is the biggest P.O.S on the bike. I know how to use a kickstand

but two times I have set the bike down on the stand and after a few seconeds go by the stand gives out and I've caught it both times.
Is there a easy fix to ensure the kickstand locks or something like that when its down.
Never had this problem with any of my other 6-7 bikes.

I pull the bike backwards to ensure it is fully forward. Is your ride lowered

the bike is stock height, and I also have been getting into the habit of pulling it back and even standing directly to the left side while I'm taking my gear off just in case..
I liked my 600f4I cause the kickstand had a wicked stong spring and that thing would snap forward hard.

It's like a limp noodle....

Do the mod. Also try getting into the habit of parking you bike in gear, rolling it forward until it stops, and then setting her down. I then normally stand next to the bike, lean the bike just a bit to get the stand up, tap it forward and the set her down again.

As for the mod:
CLICK.

I'm sure there are better links but this is all I could find for now. Checkout the pic so you can see what to focus on.

Thanks,

All years are the same...if ya park it facing uphill and in gear...no nead to do the mod

Well I have to agree that the kick stand is not the best and even the 'mod' does not prevent tip overs.  I was all set for a nice Sunday ride, set the bike down off the rear stand and everything appear just fine.  Put the tank bag on, key in the ignition and was in the process of suiting up when the bike just fell over.  Fortunately one of my other bikes broke the fall but in the process it snapped off the left mirror and a foot peg on the other bike pierced the tank bra and put a nasty gash in the fuel tank.  Obviously I should have been more attentive and made sure the bike was firmly on the side stand.  I will not make that mistake again but it did spoil my Sunday afternoon.  Maybe I should grind that notch a little deeper.
