So I had to get a new battery today. Called around looking for the best prices and found only one dealership closely located to me that had this model in stock. They give me a price, so far so good.
Then I ask if this battery needs to be filled with acid or if already done, just to see what they would say.
Get told, " The battery comes with acid that you have to put in yourself, let drain for 1 hour, then put battery on trickle charger for 2 hours before use" So naturally I ask them if they could do this before I come pick the battery up later in the afternoon once I can scam outta work to get the busa nice, happy, and most importantly, running.
Farking salesman says quite sincerely " Labor is $65 per hour, but sure we can do that"
Are you kidding me! $195 on top of battery cost to have it filled! This is just amazing. Right about here is where I ask his name and he hangs up on me.
From there I continue to work throughout the day until I can get out of there and go pick up battery. Once I get in the store I had to wait about 10 minutes for anyone to take a moment from the BS session they were obviously engrossed in and notice that they have a customer who is not blandly looking at the bikes but instead looking straight at them.
After being in the Marine Corps for 9 years, especially being an NCO in a training command, it is extremely easy for me to turn the facade of pissed off off and on like a light switch. So I wait at the counter until sparky comes to ask if I need anything. Tell him that I had called earlier about a battery for a hayabusa and they have a couple in stock. He quietly goes to get the battery and all his cronies, friends, whatever are over in their secret squirrel club huddle snickering. Not worth my time at this point, just want my battery and to leave.
He comes back with the battery and screws the price up 3 different times in the computer, always overcharging me by atleast $10. Finally has a lucid thought and does it correctly. After finishing the transaction I asked if I had called ahead and asked would they of charged the battery for me? Sh**stick replies "yep, free of charge!"
So now I have this nice wonderful new battery about 10 minutes away from going on the charger before I can ride my busa for the first time in what feels like years.
Damn I love being able to work on my own bikes and usually getting parts from internet unless I get impatient and glorious people like this remind me that patience truly is a great virtue.
