LED Conversion / Bulb Identification

Yep, aftermarket. I'm on my 2nd of that style, but couldn't tell you what brand. I'll probably be on a 3rd within a year since some of the LEDs are blinking

Yep, sometimes those aftermarket lights suck...a friend of mine put a set on his GSXR and within a few months put OEM back on..

I remember riding behind him and the rear lights would sporadically go out, come on, then flash then, go out then come on and all the time he was oblivious to it happening....

They work, they’re just dull. Since it’s not factory where are the factory turn signals supposed to go? I’ve seen them on the license plate mount and also on the side in what looks like a scoop.

For some reason, I'm a fan of OEM, they just seem to work and keep on working.

The rear of the Gen 1s had stalk style signal lights which were located on either side of the tail....this is why Gen1 rear tail lights were modified so much as people didn't like the signal lights being out there......but they worked and never failed to work.

The Gen2s went to a weird signal light pod and Suzuki finally got it right with the Gen 3...

I can’t find a factory tail fairing now or in good condition and can’t find a factory taillamp the same. I don’t know what to do.

If you put the factory undertail and tail light back on, the factory undertail that the license plate bolts to is going to drag your rear tire over bumps.
Your best bet is to use the tail that you have for brake and tail light, custom mount the license plate flush against the tail, and use some small aftermarket turn signals mounted on each top side of the license plate.
But, even then the tire may hit the plate over bumps.
All the fat tire bikes I've ever seen had swingarm mounted license plates for this reason.

Like @sixpack577 said, your bike is too modified to go to anything stock...this is the tangled web of having a heavily modified bike.....

I'm sure if you change out the light bulbs in your existing lights, they should be brighter at least......

What exactly is the problem with the aftermarket undertail?
You can still buy those new too, look on ebay, and they come with new tailights that also act as brake lights, and they are also the turn signals, and/or you can have seperate turn signals.
This is what factory looks like, and as it hangs down, why it will rub on a tire on a lowered rear with extended swingarm.

The factory mudflap has also been cut off in those pictures.

You can stick on led strips, or bolt on small lights to the back sides of the passenger pegs for turn signals too.
There are lots of ways to do this.

It has a side mount license plate on the left side attached to the passenger foot peg so that’s not an issue. If I went factory i wouldn’t use the license plate portion at all. I’m not a fan of the current light setup at all. There’s no reflective material in the housing so the lights are dull even with led bulbs. And because the turn signals are halogen in the same housing as the led brake light with no separation it’s barely seen and I can’t find a led bulb to match the halogen one since it has no numbers The tail end is fiberglass so there’s no way to modify the housing or get the lense out. I completely get customizing things but it should be done right and work better than this setup.

This has seperate built in turn signals

This style uses the tail lights as turn signals, or you can wire them to other signal lights

I like those better than what I’ve got. Wish the first one was white so I didn’t have to paint it lol

That's also what was available over 20 years ago, when that kit was new, and what there was at that time.

You can contact them, as they used to offer black or white, neither are painted, it's just the color of the plastic they're molded in.

Bestem/Hotbodies is the brand.
The led turn signals are Bright too(mine uses a seperate led brake/tail light), as one came on my '03 Gsxr1k project, and I bought a new one earlier this year because that one was cracked.
They make good parts that fit.

U also can get a stock style taillight with built in turn signals. I’ll post mine up when I get home

Most of the aftermarket tail lights have that option now(or they just light up with the rest of the tail or brake light if you don't connect them as turn signals), but the only downside to those is that they are illegal in some states, and are here in Va where I am, as the turn signals must be 8" apart.
But, if they are molded into an undertail, and still closer than 8", the cops never say anything, and they still pass annual Va State Inspection.

Oh i see now
You have a Extreme Graffixx UFO undertail

Very have to make it bright.

I have PC boards with LEDS that worked great,
I need to see if i have any left around

Hmmmm I wonder if Red and Amber Switch back led bulbs would fit back in there!

Are the stock turn signal plugs and tail light still in tacked?

Stock tail light sockets are but the turn signals are these tiny halogen things and I don’t know what number bulb they are. They’re supposed to be 7507 turn signal bulbs and I haven’t been able to find switchbacks in 7507
