You might look at the storage space available on the different priced DVR's I think the lower priced ones have 250 gig drives and the higher priced ones have 500 gig drives. The really cheap ones don't have drives at all.

The 8400 has a 1TB hard drive in it. The 8300 has the 500GB drive.
