Well Doc it all started over Macho Grande....
I have been riding big Suzuki's since I was 16. My previous ride a 1985 GS1150ES had been with me for 20 years and it was time for an evolution. I had always admired the Busa from afar since it came out right as I was getting married and having kids. Actually I had been wanting a hard core sport tourer to replace my old GS and it ultimately came down to a Ducati ST4S or a Busa. I came across my bike by accident one night (2003 AE with 214 miles on the odo!!!) and the rest was history. I knew the Busa had the best aftermarket support of any sportbike in history and also hell its a Busa!

I had a Honda F4 as my first streetbike. One night while coming home from work I opened her up and got 150mph (indicated). The funny thing was I was still trying to roll the throttle. Soon after I realized I wanted a faster bike. I decided to hit a local Suzuki dealer for the 1000. This was in '05 when the style had changed. At that time I hated the fact that the signals were on the mirror and I didn't care too much for the look of the exhaust nor the tail.
Coming to the conclusion that I dodn't want the 1000 but still wanted a Suzuki, I only had 2 choiced left ... the 750 or the Hayabusa. Fearing it wouldn't take me long to maxout the 750 and get bored with it, I decided to get the Busa. I was hesitant to go from a 600 to a 1300, but that Black/Silver (you know ... the fastest color
) '05 kept calling me.
2 weeks later, I posted this:

Always loved the look.. Beautiful and aggressive..
Was gonna get the Gix 6 but.. Salesperson comes back from finance.. "If you want you can get your Busa" This being my first bike, I think for .02 seconds, look at my friend "What you think?" My friend says "Go Big or Go Home"

I was walking from point A to point B at the motorcycle shop buying parts for my ATV when I was brought to an abrupt hault by this little cartoon devil sitting on my left shoulder.
Kinda looks like this guy ~~~>
Anyhow... with no control over my own body, he walks me over to the Busa and commands me to sit on it. I'ts kinda blank after that for a few. Next thing I know, I'm outside, on the bike w/ the gear on and the bike running.
Haven't seen the little cartoon guy since. I know he's there though. I wish people would believe me... because I need HELP!

The real reason: I wanted a sport bike, but at 6'3" ~ 260lbs, there wasn't anything else that felt "right."
Glad I made the purchase. Now I need some track time and more money!

it was faster than my zx-11....
I needed a bike I could be comfortable on... the busa doesn't abuse your body like a 1k. I'm not a big fan of the cruiser body positioning either.

I was without a bike for the first time in many years. I wanted to get back on one, but I did not want to spend alot of cash. Didn't think I could be comfortable on a sport bike although I have always loved performance machines, so I bought a Honda Shadow cruiser. Owned it for a couple of years and it was fun to ride again, but the bike killed my back after an hour or so riding. My son was ready to get himself a bike and after looking at them all he calls to tell me he bought this hayabusa thing, the fastest production bike. I was concerned that he would go out and get hurt, and after a few fatherly lectures, I looked at the bike at my local dealer just to see what they were all about. I sat on one and said, I could ride one of those, and they look awesome. Never will forget the sound of my son on the other end of the phone when I told him I had bought one just like his!
Now I'm going to go home and load it in the trailer and take it to the gap with 80 other happy busa owners.
After a 16 year bike absence... my dear husband gave me his Katana 750 after he bought his Busa. He joined this site. I joined this site. And everyone's love of the busa got me looking at it.
I got bored with the Katana about 6 months later. I wanted a sport bike, and I wanted a Suzuki. The gixxers had too short of a wheel base, I was concerned I'd wheelie it unintentionally. (I have a "problem" with fast take offs...
) and the more I looked at Busas, the more I fell in love.

I have to admit this was part of my final consideration to buy mine but after I bought it I have not changed one thing. Well, I shaved that shovel off of course. But that was it. Seriously.
Performance?
Looks? She is perfect the way she is.
I can't think of how to improve it in my eyes.

After riding a Kat600 for some years on and off, and got rid of my KZ1000 many years previous...
Restlessly I visited every shop in Utah for 3 years... sat on everything. ZX12R - too tall. 600 - too small... - 750 was OK but limited space for wifey.... GSXR1000 well... no wife buy-in either. - then 2 things happened....
1. I saw that fastbikes magazine video with that guy doing an indicated 190mph on the R1... then the busa flies by...
2. Sat my wife on the back of a busa at the dealer... We both loved it... just right.
