It's pretty apparent that some of the members found my April fools joke less than funny so I want to apologize. I still don't understand why folks got so bent out of shape but I don't want my actions to cause grief on the site. I personally don't need any more negativity in my life and I want to make sure that you folks know that I meant nothing malicious with my prank. I just want all of it to go away until everyone can look back and laugh.

Can't we all just get along ??

Was out fo town, so I missed it. So not having seen the prank or gotten caught up in it, I found it hilarious when I logged on late Sunday evening and read the posts.

I give the Cap't a big thumbs up for his creativity. Though I would personally cry and probably die of starvation if he ever did close this place down.

Personally, I found the joke pretty funny. When I checked in and saw the post, my first reaction was WTF!?!? But then I quickly realized what the date was...I shrugged it off.

Maybe I'm just used to the crazy pranks that local radio DJs pull...

Any way, Good one, Cap! I can't wait to see what's next year!

you're a good man for standin up an apologizing, Cap. While I missed the whole prank, I was certainly made aware of the aftermath.

It was just a prank that was not well-received by some. We all pull jokes at times that get unintended results...it happens to the best of us.

I have no hard feelings about it...but thank you for apologizing. Hopefully we can all get along now.

I had the idea it could have been a joke but what make it so effective is that it could have been a reality really easy  why some would be temporarily lost without this site many would relocate to other boards in hopes of finding lost friends. In any case i'm glad it was a joke and reminds us to have other means of contact.
I hope the ones who were greatly upset and considered it malicious will take note of apology and do the same so we can all get back to where we were.

I have made a post or two in the past that I thought were really funny, only to suffer the same kind of backlash on a smaller scale. I felt anger at first when the negative comments came in, but soonafter took some big bites of humble pie and let it go. I personally thought the April Fools joke was great, (got me good) but ineveitably with a group of this size, opinions are bound to differ. The key to resolving these differences IMHO is to defer anger, consider intent, and be objective and respectful of viewpoints you may not share. Is it easy? No. Do I practice what I preach? I could do much better. Let's offer or accept apologies and clarifications as needed, then move on. I think you've done more than enough on your end Captain, so now it's out of your hands and up to all of us to smile, let it go, and move on. Ultimately we cannot control the opinions and actions of others, but we can control how we respond to them. I think you've responded admirably.
