Are the lift stands a stable way to store the bike when it is in the garage?? A lot of the bikes in the pictures are on the stands. I have 4 little kids and dont want it knocked over by accident.

Brand new '06, Black, 0 miles. Wife surprised me with a coming home from Afghanistan present. Will see the bike in a few weeks when I get back.

GET THE STANDS!

Get good Paddock stands for when the bike is at home. Especially with chillins motoring around. It is much more stable and easier to work on when on a front and rear stand.

Absolutely.

I prefer Pit Bull, but Vortex makes some nice ones and Cycle Cat is good as well I guess.

You can walk up to Lilah and give her a Mighty shove when up on the stands and it just feels like you pushing on a fridge.

Great bike! You'll love it. If you enjoy a little attention on the road (cough* me) the busa will definitely make people turn their heads...

I have Suzuki stands. They're not as beefy as a lot of the others I've seen but they work fine for me.

Go with the stands. I have a Suzuki front and a Pitbull rear. Pitbull much beefier.

If you park the bike in your garage on a perfectly smooth surface... it will take a LOT of effort for a child (depends on their age) to mess with the bike and dump it over. The bike is solid on a perfect surface with or without the kickstand mod. Stands might be a good idea for different reasons... but I don't think they are "absolutely" neccessary. Just my opinion. My bike is parked solidly in my garage and no kid under 100 lbs is gonna make it fall over. An adult can come sit on it and it still won't fall. The bike is nearly 500lbs... and no normal kid is going to move it. I wouldn't worry too much unless you've got Dennis the Menace as a son and he starts swinging a baseball bat at the kickstand! If that's the case, I pray for you! haha! But if you've got the extra money, go for a stand. It's safe and effective. I think you'll survive without one... if that's what you're wondering about.

If you're wondering about your children knocking the bike over... they might if they jump around on it like it's a trampoline. If they have any kind of sense at all... they will not. If all 4 of them start pushing on it and try to knock it over... well... they just might make that sapsucker fall! lol! I think it all depends on how well you know your kids.

So. Should you get a stand just because of your kids?

ANSWER: It depends on your kids.

In my opinion, the bike is very solid and sturdy while parked. Yeah, it's heavy.

Unless you are going to need the tires off the ground I prefer a chock. I ride into my Baxley when I get home from a ride. Get off, clean helmet visor, hook up battery tender and away I go. No way the bike will be pushed over when in the chock. And easy to lift rear to do chain when in chock.

I think way to go....

Bullcrap, I knocked Grand Dad's Goldwing 1200 over without a whole lot of effort just by screwing with it when I was about 6 and it weighed a lot more than the Busa. There have been plenty of others who have had their Busa's tumble in the garage when bumped or otherwise messed with as well.

Paddock stands are an easy bit of insurance and they simplify everyday tasks like cleaning and lubing the chain, checking tire pressure, and cleaning wheels.

"Required" NO, but really damn handy and easy insurance when sitting in the garage for a few days...

Really? My bike is very solid/sturdy while parked in my garage. I've tested it, too. Seems pretty sturdy in my garage.... But... my garage is not yours. I guess everyone has different stories to tell. In other words... the mods/admins are pushing for you got get a stand....

I just (still) think that if your kids are well-mannered and don't f20k with your bike... it will be just fine without a stand in your garage.

But if you have the money and just have to get a stand... get one. I, personally, do not have one or plan to get one in the near future. That's just me. But I'm also the outsider who doesn't wear riding pants/jacket, either.....

But I still love my bike.... and I love riding it as much as I can! Whenever.. where ever...

Thanks for the advice everyone. I bought some stands today to have delivered to the house. The Harleys are pretty stable on the kick stands but with all the talk of kickstand mods for the Hayabusa it concerned me, this is my first "rice burner". The kids 8, 7, 4, 3 will not mess with the bike but for a few hundred bucks its cheaper than the repairs to the kids and bike if it were to fall.

I have a pitbull front and a spec rear for mine. It sure makes chain maintenance, oil changes, and even cleaning the wheels easier.
