locking oil cap

Who makes locking oil filler caps so no one spikes my oil with sand or something? I was thinking the same size allen/hex key as used to remove the side fairing for an oil change. Maybe something even more difficult to get into like a star head or something custom.

No one really. People just hate. For some odd reason last year someone kept stealing my drz400sm license plate 3-4 times like every 3 months. I even had locking nuts so they just bent it up and down a couple dozen times untill it snapped off like a credit card leaving the corners. Why they didnt vandalize it further i do not know. Why do people key nice cars? Just want to protect my investment. Most expensive car i have ever bought was a 97 GMC truck @ 4,500 and i have been driving it for 5 years. People are just acting crazy these days. I have set up a camera and will get an alarm system soon. I have broke this engine in the way i like it since mile 1 and i would hate for something to happen to it. If i had an enemy they would probably just drain the oil.

I plan on keeping this bike till the end. If something were to happen to this bike after i had it mostly payed off the insurance comp. would get the bike, the lean company a fat check, and i would be out the thousands of dollars i payed towards it plus all the decal kits, performance air filters, yoshi pipes, power commander, touring windscreen, ect, ect. I will be less worried when it payed off as i will be the one who gets the fat check for a new bike.

you could safety wire it, and if its been tampered you should be able to tell.

i know this isnt really theft preventive, but in the end nothing really is.

Im just a lil paranoid about my first 15,000 vehicle, and they say busas are a hot commodity for thieves. Gonna get a disk brake lock also for when its under the carport at night instead of the garage or if i leave town a couple days or have to stay at a hotel. I have full statefarm coverage, fire, theft, ect but i would rather try to prevent it. I'm not sure about vandalism coverage. Im just trying to think of everything i can to prevent some goofball from messing with my bike, like pouring a slurpy in my crankcase, in a parking garage/lot if i go downtown. Memphis is one of the top 3 highest (violent) crime rate cities in the country.

This is a good idea. It's a good deterant, somewhat difficult to remove and if it is tampered with you'll now it....if you check it.

If its the same thread pitch as the Gen1 i would probably get more responses over there. They know all about those billet ones.

I do check my oil glass at least once a week but i could do better.

Me likey. Someone could spin it around with a center punch and hammer but that's just about anything. They have others styles and holes for safety wiring them. Might get my machinist to mill the top half off so its not as easy to get ahold of with some channel lock pliers. Small price for peace of mind.

Mine is in a shed with two 100 lb German Shepherd guarding it. If they manage to steal my bike, they earned it.

If you have a Garage why not put the bike in it everynight ( Mine is ) Solves that problem, As for a hotel, Get a ground floor room and pull it inside.

I would try that at a hotel. The reason i don't take it to the garage every single night is because i have 4 acres and the guesthouse like garage is on the back half and i would have to drive threw 1 1/2 acres off grass to get back there. If it rained one night i would never get it back up. I have a fully fenced in yard and a pretty safe brick pillared 2car port built onto the side of the brick house, and i block the bike in with my cars, flood light, wifi camera, and soon to get an alarm i would hear right out my window and come out packing. Not perfect but it would almost be easier for them to cut the padlock off my garage door and load it up in a van back there at night without me knowing. Getting the disk brake lock also. Damn thieves.
