Long time between drinks.

Welcome GB. 25 years! That's a while. I wish my sport bike history could have gone back that far. I can't let go of any of the bikes I've owned since 2008. Have 08 Black/orange busa and a wrecked 08 Midnight Sapphire blue ZX-14 I just couldn't let go of. Just bought a 2024 ZX-14R and wish I had money to buy more because there's more than few I'd love to own including that beautiful Gen3 Hayabusa.

Other than the probable 2-3 grand difference in price why buy the ZX?

The two or three grand had nothing to do with it for me. It's extremely old news but he 14R makes more hp and tq and that's what I buy hyper bikes for. I don't think it's as quick 0 to 60 mph as the Gen3 busa but I go faster than 60 if I'm going fast. It doesn't matter much. I went faster on my Gen1 ZX-14 but on paper, it's not as fast as a Gen2 Hayabusa. In the corners, there was no advantage with either bike. Hell I almost crashed chasing a Husqvarna dual sport bike on my busa. Totally crushed him on the straights though. You buy what you want to buy for whatever reason you want it. The Gen3 Hayabusa is a very beautiful bike with some cool electronics but I spend for power and if it's less money.....my mind is made up.

but if the Gen3 busa proves to be faster (and I've been waiting four years for definitive proof while the 14R has been out 12 years), I'll have to buy it. Anyone have proof, please tell me because I have intercooled turbo money going to the 14R that could be spent on a Gen3 Hayabusa.

Love my busa and the Gen3 is gorgeous but newsflash.........they made it less fast. at least as far as I know and I followed it a number of years. Then I bought a 14R.

The biggest advantage the Gen 3 has is it's electronic suite, it makes it able to be finessed to the rider's needs, you can turn the nannies up or down as you see fit......it's been said that it's better to have them and not need them than to not have them and then need them...

There are many threads on here regarding putting cruise control on the two previous gens......the gen 3 has solved that equation...

If we look at power, Suzuki gave it less power but placed that power in the mid range where they said most riders spend their time...in this way of thinking it makes sense.....the gen 2 might have an overall higher top speed but by the time it catches the gen 3, it's too late.

.........and there are lots and lots of turbo'd gen 3s on this forum and the internet that attests to it still being a Hayabusa under all that fancy plastic....

Welcome back @SeabeGB

A wise choice to get yourself another Hayabusa......of course you know we all deserve to see pictures of your new beastie.......
Yes good idea. It's currently snoozing in Sydney while I am at home four hours away. The next 10 days is going to be rather wet, so unsure when I will see it. It's very stock, black/gold. A good part of me prefers stock. On one Gen 2 I looked at, the previous owner installed LED lights, and I just thought 'no'.
I am contemplating a mini shrine section in the garage. I reonovated the garage recently from a drab tan brick and old concrete floor, to now have Scuderia colours with white walls, red beams and grey floors. I'm also contemplating a Gen 2 to sit next to it. That will make for good pics.

Well, I said it had better hp/tq numbers but I don't know that showing it on a Hayabusa forum would do much for it's looks! LOL a lot of people say they like my 2024 40th anniversary edition ZX-14R but I think at least half are just humoring me. I have a few pictures and I'll put up a thread soon. It's 100% stock at the moment, about 350 miles.

Is it the green, white, and blue one?

Damned if I can figure out how to start a new thread. I guess it's been a while. Sorry GB but I'm jacking your thread with pictures of my new 14R. Sixpack asked for it so it's his fault.

Wow, she's a beauty.....I love the retro color scheme...I'd rice that in a heartbeat.

Is there an aftermarket exhaust in the works?

To start a new thread go into whatever sub section you want i.e. "General bike related topics" click on the "Post Thread" box and away you go....

Yep, that's an awesome throw-back color, it's my favorite, and looks as good on the zx10.
It screams '90's Kawasaki...a great era.
And yeah, needs some carbon fiber mufflers, it'll flick side to side quicker with the weight loss, not just look and sound better.

I was looking at this before I bought my latest busa, it was already sold though
Some interesting mods....

I have that gas cap on my Gsxr1k, and am going to order one for the other Gsxr1k, it's a quality part.
I ordered a chinese dampner like that for my Gsxr1k too, as after Alot of searching I couldn't find non-china brackets.
I found a company yesterday called Harris Performance in the UK that had them, but says no longer available for sale.
Iike the top-mount dampners that you can adjust at any time, vs having to get off and reach underneath.
Hyper-Pro dampners are $400+, and Ohlins are $500+, and with no brackets!
