Looking For A Radar Detector

You can get a Bluetooth audio sender for $30 at BestBuy. It plugs into the audio out of the radar or phone and sends out or receives a Bluetooth signal you can pair to the headset. Usually USB power. So any RD with audio out can be Bluetooth.

Thanks for the advice arch. I have thought of that. Problem is I will need to get the 20s to do it. I currently use the Cardo G9x and it will not let you input two audio sources at once. I was actually ready to do that until I heard that the Escort live app may be an option. That is why I would love to get some feedback from a trusted source.

TPX is not water proof , but water resistant.
Use to carry a zip lock bag to put over it but soon learned police dont like getting wet writing tickets . so i put mine in a side bag if caught in rain . Got cought in a heavy down pour , and my back light now works when it feels like it . However detector still picks up no issues .

Will do, have a road trip this weekend, I hope it arrives in time. I keep my phone connected to Sync in the Mustang, will be cool if it overrides music and alerts me. Will update after the first chance I get to use it.

I also use the Passport 9500ix. Love it.
Don't forget about the Waze app. Good for speed traps, and GREAT for getting a heads up of objects in the road ahead...Which has saved my bacon more than once.
Troy

Mmmm, bacon...

I am very interested in knowing if I can get alerts through my phone to my headset. I already ride with my phone synced so I can listen to music and it would be great if the app would interrupt that if there was an alert.
The escort ix looks good. I am also very interested in this. :super:

TPX 2.0 radar detector

Built for motorcycles. Water proof with nice big buttons for easy glove access. Had it on my Busa for years with no issues. Nowadays a lot of cops are using the instant on so if your flying triple digits it won't be able to save you even with a couple moments heads up. I still use it for piece of mind. I'm more worried about those 10-15 mph tickets. Around my way there's a lot of speed limit changes in a very short span of road.
Same here in Auckland bro. One road has 3 different speed zones but few signs to say what it is and where. Entrapment is my defense.

The waterproofing issue is what has kept me from buying a new Detector. I have seen some of the vacuum formed clam-shells and other enclosures but none looked truly waterproof. I had at one point intended to use an Otterbox or Pelican clear case, which would waterproof it ok but then you have the power and audio hurdles to overcome.

I have mine mounted on the windshield so if I am in a light rain it will not get wet. It also gives me a few seconds to remove it and put it in my jacket if it does start to rain harder.

Also these things get pretty hot so I was always worried about enclosed cases.

The TPX 2.0 looks like a nice radar detector built for a motorcycle. Unfortunately it looks like it performs poorly compared to the Escort 8500 in detection time. This is a killer for me. I really need the best detector available, and add some blinking lights or something like this guy did.

I used a windshield mount from Escort, you can also find them on ebay. It uses two sided tape. I had to bend it a bit to match the contour of the windshield.

I was a little nervous of using tape on the windshield, I wasn't sure how it would stand up in the summer heat.

Thanks Nosbig just what I was looking for, I just bought two one for the bike and one for the truck.

Well, my review of the Escort iX is not yet completed, but I will give you the run down of what I have observed so far.

1) Best mounting system I have seen with a detector.
2) Adjustments and settings to fine tune, you can tune all bands of K and Ka.
3) Ability to turn off POP
4) Ability to change color screens, appeals to my OCD nature to match my gauges.
5) Escort Live App, pop up on main screen giving me distance and type of radar being detected, had Pandora and Waze running.
6) Extremely long range detection.
7) Very few false alerts this weekend.
8) I find the voice prompts are better than the tones.

The bad:

1) Escort Live only allowed me to change the settings on the first day.
2) Never once received alerts through Escort live today even through the detector picked up radar.

So I need to do some research and see why the app is not connecting to the unit and allowing me to change settings. The more I learn the more I can fine tune. I can still see speed on the app main screen, but no radar detection like it did on the first day. I only had one false alert today.

Waze and Escort Live, and Pandora all played well in the background. Not sure what the issue today was, didnt have Pandora on at all, but did run Waze. If they incorporated the ability to run GPS on the Escort live app it would be the shizzle.

Well now, it seems there is an Escort forum, huh who knew? LOL, I need to check my Escort Live version. Will update that and report back. There is a known bug for the Android users out there, LOL, dont say it you apple heads.

Thanks for the update. Let me know what you find out. I am ready to pull the trigger on the live cord for my 9500ix. Just waiting to find out if I can get alerts through my Cardo.

I cant say that you will, but I get alerts from the detector to my phone, and from my phone to Sync in my car. I can hear everything through the car audio. Its kind of weird actually because I hear it from both the unit itself and through the car. But the app voice is different from the unit voice. LOL

Thanks. If that's the case then it should work for what I need. Will the live app work in the background on your phone? I have the note 4.
