Looking for a REASON

another kicker...TXDOT announced that they had thier budget cut by quite a large chunk, causing them to drop a lot of road expansion problems and repairs... reason for the cut... too many people are buying fuel efficient cars and traveling less, resulting in less fuel tax revenue, coupled with increased operating costs. it took them forever to fix the roads when the going was good... just imagine what it's going to be like now

Can't agree more even though this is an old thread from 2008

Goes to show not much changes......

Goes to show that here in the states, it doesn’t matter who lives on Pennsylvania Ave. Regardless, people will always blame the president if he isn’t on their chosen side of the political aisle. What the hell, it sounds convincing, right?

If I could find a tree that weeped oil I might agree that there is price gouging, but the simple fact that it's a non-renewable resource, that is rapidly depleting. Let's not forget that originally the driving force behind the EV was to overcome this depletion curve. The climate business came along later.

Oil is depleting, it's just an idea sold to the masses.

From what I’ve read online the US has over 23 MILLION acres of untapped oil reserves just in Alaska. Estimates are that we have over 26 BILLION barrels of untapped oil just sitting there. Also from what I’ve read (what other sources do any of us really have?) we have only 5 years or so w/o any imported oil (we)? import oil? before we run dry using only what we have already stored. (That’s) hard to believe. Why aren’t we drilling in AK? It’s not the only state with untapped oil reserves. Is storing huge amounts of oil more of a liability from sabotage or outright bombing targets as they would be during a state of war? Safer to leave it in the ground until it’s (really) needed, whenever that is?
