Quote from Rev: "The Idea that a scammer is going to post up asking for photos if fuggin stupid. Did IQ's suddenly plummet while I was gone? WTF? Why ask for what is so easily available ALL OVER THE WEB FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS?

USE YOUR HEADS!!!!!!!!

The abuse in this thread is embarrasing. Bunch of Web-tough keyboard jockies? Pathetic...

Seriously.

Death threats? Stupid B!tch Comments? Is this where Hayabusa.org is being led?

Nice work... Way to make Hayabusa.org less than it used to be... " end of quote.

Right!!!! I'll always appreciate someone trying to keep me and anybody else from getting scammed, I've bought, well lets say alot of stuff off this board, and when I buy another busa used, I'll buy it off this board,BECAUSE most everybody here cares if someone gets scammmed or not.Youre getting a little carried away with your "authority" and again trying to force feed the "Rev" always knows best theory.I'll admit I was skeptical as well about the post, nothing has been proved as of now any way, even if it was, everybody was genuinely trying to protect others from future scams involving our pics.Good intentions if you ask me.I didnt post anything very "challenging", but if youre looking for a retraction from me, look else where.NJ.

Man oh man. I'm with you. Check out the thread I started on this same subject. I still think we all did the right thing. Maybe not all of my post's were up to par. But what the HeII. That's just me being me. Far from perfect.

Well, my posts weren't out of line in my opinion, but I did wonder why anyone needed to post up any pics of their Busas when they're all over the web, all over this site, all free for anyone to save on their own PCs without question...

I don't think there's anything with looking out for others...things may have gotten a bit more heated than necessary, but that's just how things go at times...

I personally think it would have been a more "heads up" approach to have given the pictures without question. Either she was in fact using them for that project or she was scamming us to get pictures (which I still don't understand the purpose of). Either way, we watch eBay and see if our pictures show up. If they do, we notify eBay, and low-&-behold one less scammer account on the net.

If they didn't show up, we look like the nice people that we truly are and this person sings our praises. In addition we keep our dignity as a community in tact.

I think we missed the mark on this one but it was a valiant effort for a good cause. Always better safe than sorry!

Michelle,I have never been a fan of publicly humiliation or the repremanding of someone in public, hell, counselling reports in the military are even between the NCO and the subordinate.(private) So coming out on a board and demeaning a bunch of members for trying to protect any and all in the future is in my opinion iresponsible, and shall we say.....not right.Could have been done with the PM function on the board.I know this is not the miltary, but people were just trying to prevent any wrong doing in the future with pics of our bikes.Personally,I'm glad there are so many concerned members, long standing members at that! Paul.

She was concerned about international copyright law. I'm fairly certain that her professor would not accept images for the project that did not have express consent attached to them. This is pretty standard in college/university courses as of late. Made sense and added credibility to the request, IMO.

It seems to me that our esteemed moderators are rarely on here anymore. I hardly ever see Rev, NE, or Him posting, unless it's in a response to a complaint. What's the deal with that? As I said in the thread, which is now locked, I will not apologize, I still believe it to be fishy. The person never did post up pics as requested, and has had plenty of oportunity to do so.

You could be right about the request. However, how do the scammers get the pictures they use on ebay and so forth. I don't know. But I do think this would have been an excellent way to have a treasure trove of nice bikes to try to sell with lots of nice pics on ebay or wherever.

Just my NSHO.

...got a point there...I don't know the "rules" for obtaining pics from the Internet for school projects...

Why would you want pictures of late model Busas, from all different angles? These scams pop up all over the place, not just on ebay in the US. Check out ebay UK for instance. I had one of these dudes contact me about an ad I had on Stripbike...
This is a serious problem, and I will offend anyone I think is a trying to take advantage of us, if that's what it takes.
The really funny part is, if it was a dude that had posted up asking for this, nobody would have come to his rescue like they did. Some people are so gullable.......

Was this about that individual from Europe asking for pictures for some project
rock.gif
in any event she/he could just do a ramdom search on the net and obtain them it's that simple versus us handing her/him our personal pics

A little slap on the hand to all that are complaining. I never received an email or PM on the thread in question. If you think for one second that I read every post on this board then you obviously think that I have too much time on my hands. When I do get a notification of a questionable thread I review it and make a quick decision if I should stop the bleeding and move it to a holding area out of the normal queues or I edit and contact the person that posted the questionable or offensive post. Shame on you guys for putting this back on the mods, if there is something that you dont agree with bring it to my attention and I will reply to you with my thoughts. I have taken action on every single post that has been brought to my attention. This is your site, I just host it and try to help keep the peace. You control the maturity levels and you determine when the flaming begins and ends.

Michelle, Chris, how about becoming moderators

I haven't kept up with the thread in question but I've definitely noticed that the .org has changed lately, and not in a good way. It's much more harsh than it used to be around here. Lots of flaming and such.
Is it just me or has there been more Busa's for sale on the board lately that are scams. There are 2 or 3 right now on the board for sale that are scams. That's why I'm so gun shy right now. Friggin scammers. As I have already said, If I'm wrong about one I will apologize. But if I'm right about one then I have done the board a service.

I leafed through that thread a little bit and never did post. Yes, it seemed fishy to me as well, but I simply wanted to stay uninvolved. It seemed it was being "handled."

I agree with NJ and some of the others as to the proliferation of flaming and keyboard bravado within the .org as of late. I rarely post up anymore because of that, but I keep coming back to see how some of my friends are coming along.

Debate is one thing, even when it gets heated, but the "keyboard jockies" as NJ referred to, are ridiculous. I suppose, much as historical patterns, this is more likely a cycle, but it is surely disheartening to witness.

BTW, NJ, what the hell are you talking about "death threats" and such? Did you get PM's or something? What the heck did I miss?
