lowering.....

I like the looks of a lowered bike, but I have a dilema. I really don't want to lower the bike too much because I want to keep the turn in nice and easy. I've read that even lowering 1 inch, front and rear, makes the turn in a little harder. So, my thoughts are....lower the front 1 inch and the rear 3/4 inch and that gives it the lowered look(yes not much) and keeps the turn in quick by having the rear a little higher. That seems to me it would be like stock steering again, but with the bike a little lower. Thoughts appreciated! Brian

My Busa's been lowered 2" in the front and rear, and it handles fine...hubby corners much harder than I do (gets rid of my chicken strips) and he loves how it rides lowered...I don't know that there's a huge difference in handling with the lowered bike, to be honest...

Anyone have a different take on that? I'm quite happy with the looks and handling...

Mine sits too low to the ground and scraps the road some of the times. Is your stretched at all? If it is stock length you should be good to lower it 1 1/2 in both the front and back with not too too much difference in handling. I cannot be for certain because I lowered mine the same time I extended it 6 more inches so that change was pretty dramatic compared to the stock set-up. Only way to know forsure is to try it.

No, not strechted. I hate to ask such seemingly simple questions, but I have never lowered a bike or ridden one that's lowered, so I have no idea how much a difference it makes in handling. I don't think I want to go lower than 1" in the front, road suck around here, and I'd like to keep it pretty close to even front and back. 2" in back would seem like it would make it too much leaning back with only 1" in front. I don't know...anymore input? Thanks

Lowering won't make much of a difference, other than ground clearance. Shouldn't be a big deal, unless you're on the track a lot. Acceleration will be improved also......

Here ya go: 3/4" GenMar in the front, middle hole lowering links on the back. Don't go lower, it will drag a lot. You'll have to be very careful going over speed bumps at this setting too.

I have my bike 1 1/2 in in the front and middle hole in the back here in NY. Roads here are pretty bumpy.. I like this set up the best for looks and handling. I tried 2 inches in the front and it was too low, scraped on dips in the road.

Lowering WILL affect the handing of the bike. If you are a canyon kinda guy or a track guy you DON'T want to lower it. If you are really into leaning the bike you will want to raise the rear 1".

If you do straight lines and don't lean the bike like it should ( I mean lean the bike like dragging a knee or scrapping pegs ) then leave it alone.

I personally left it alone because I like the straights but alos love to lean the bike over and take a turn without scraping anything.

BOUGHT ADJUST DOGBONES AT ORIENT EXPRESS HAD IN MIDDLE HOLE APPROX 1- 1/2 LOWER THAN STOCK BOUGHT TRIPLE CLAMP AT SCHNITZ RACING LOWERED 1-1/2 BIKE ROAD FINE ON THE ROADS NEVER HIT OR SCRAPED HAVE SINCE EXTENDED SWINGARM 6" NOW LOWERED APPROX 2" FRONT AND BACK DOESNT HIT OR SCRAPE DOES HANDLE DIFFERENT IN THE CORNERS BUT YOU GET USED TO IT

I went about 3/4 front and rear. It does slow it down a tad, but nothing terrible. I figured it was best to keep the bike level by lowering them both the same. Less change to rake and trail. Instability was a concern for me. I can still take it out and blast through the park with it.

im with royzgsxr on this one i had mine lowerd in the front and back and scrapped when i rode the shid out of it couldnt even get to the edge of the tire good without some of my pegs or pucks hitting the ground. I do track and twistis so i bought some links from soupy. They will drop teh bike for crusing and if you hit the curbs you can actully get it to raise up a lttle from stock. Also get the reper risers to lower the front that way you look more like a lter bike front up back down

litre bikes sit more front up and back down?

Thanks for everyone replies, does anyone sell lowering links with a 3/4" slot, that is not adjustable, dogbone style? I find all kinds 1", 2'', 1.5", 3"....curious about 3/4".

Thanks

no they sit lower in the front and higer in the back.

that's what I thought....

Does anyone have an opinion on my original thought for this post?

it will work but i dont know of any 3/4 lowering links. Should still handle well
