Not that I'm an expert or anything, but the biggest thing I noticed was having the proper suspension. I've got a triple adjustable on the rear with correct springs for my weight front/rear.
There's no way the bike would have felt as stable using stock settings/hardware. I'm 6'4" and 270# with gear.
The other big thing was I felt pretty good about the brakes (Stainless + EBC HH). Kevin (VMAN1300) has a very trick setup with Brembo master cylinder and Vesrah pads.
