Gen 2? Aren't they undercut from the factory?

IIRC, he has a Gen I and did a Gen II tail swap. Best of luck, man, I know you've been asking about doing tranny work for a while now.

yes 06 with 08 tail swap,i have been doing a lot of reading and understanding.I decided to do the swap my self.i dabble in auto mechanics and a few people that i have met over the years know what i have done and can do.Say if you can do the stuff you do on cars you can do a bikes trans. So after taking the motor out,i have just been studying the motor.
When you do your own work you feel good about yourself.i will keep you posted and try to take pics.

Nice job!! Looking at the very same "type" of work this winter on my 06'. (Head inspection w/ gasket replcmnt).
Curious, was a two man lift envolved getting the engine on that table, or were you able to HeMan it up there by yourself? Don't want the wife doing any un-necessary strainous activities...
(Shes' got enough excuses on date night already)

YES!!!! took me forever to find that same bolt!

I did mine last summer, did all my own wrenching. Where are you going to send your tranny? Robinson did mine for 60$ and it hasnt had an issue since. I wish I had some more $$ when I did mine. I could just afford to fix it and nothing else.

Things you should consider since you have it open..

new shift forks
billet shift shaft
balance the crank and remove the balancer
high pressure oil pump
high pressure oil regulator

yes i will get new shift forks and ape billet shift shafts but never heard of balance the crank and remove the balancer,in-lighting me iceman sid???. i can tell you right off the bat two forks are worn 1 is real bad.I will replace the forks and shafts first as i am doing this over the winter as this is my first time doing this work and i am in know rush.

Talk to APE about it. You send the crank to them, they do a race balance and remove the counter balance gear. when you re-install, install without couterbalace gear and buy their counter balance gear plug. makes for faster revving and quicker throttle response. You will never get a better time to do it.

looks like your on your way ham. if you need any help lemme know. but it looks like you got her figured out.

Unless you're going with a boosted or large nitrous application I wouldnt go with a high pressure oil reg. Get the High VOLUME gear from APE, but for a stock motor stick with the stock oil pressure reg. Like it was said, new forks(made that mistake not getting them when I did my trans last winter and cost me a few races), shift shafts, undercut it and let 'er rip!

does the second and sixth gear driven look worn out. This is my first time doing the undercut so a don't really know what to look for.my second gear jumps out when im on the throttle hard.i know my shift forks are done(see picks above:whistle:) will that also cause second gear to jump out in out in out in when on it hard???

I would highly reccomend jsut boxing it up and sending the whole thing to a machine shop and let them do the work and tell you what is and isn't worn.....
