(warwgn @ May 08 2007,12:21) Here's health to you and to our Corps Which we are proud to serve;

In many a strife we've fought for life And never lost our nerve.

If the Army and the Navy Ever gaze on Heaven's scenes,

They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines.

I am new to this group just joined a few days ago! I ride both a busa and a Harley and more importantly I ride with the patroit guard riders. Being new here I am not sure how familiar any of you are with the PGR but in a nutshell we ride and pay tribute to fallen soldiers all over the country. Anyone is welcome to join in no matter what you ride or even if you dont ride at all. This true American hero will be laid to rest in Alma Michigan tomorrow and the PGR will be there to pay respects to him. If you would like to know more about the PGR feel free to check out their site at www.patroitguard.org I will also list the service info below. Oh and please know we only attend these types of services at the request of the family.

MSgt Michael Wert, Alma
Confirmed mission per Larry Helser

US Marine Corp MSgt Michael Wert based at Marine Corps Air Station
Cherry Point, N.C. drowned in the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday while
saving two children.

The funeral will be held May 12, 2007 at Alma United Methodist Church,
501 Gratiot Ave, Alma MI at 11AM.

Staging will be 8:30 to 9:30, briefing at 9:45, and flag line at 10.

Staging Update: 5/10/07

Figures, I post staging info and then the police want to change it. See the national thread as there is a map indicating where to park. Bikes will park on the south side of Downie Street between Woodorth and Gratiot Ave. Cages will park in the municipal parking lot on Woodworth street. Ride briefing to be held in the municipal parking lot. Bikes should be parked in tight rows facing east so we can get the maximum number of bikes parked in that area.

If we have an overflow of bikes on Downie street (which I think we will) is there anyone arriving early who would be willing to tell incoming bikes where to park? I need to clarify with the Police tomorrow on where the overflow folks should go and I will tell early arrivals who volunteer to handle that problem where the bikes should go.

It's not known at this time if the family wants us to be in the procession to the cemetery. The cemetery is Riverside Cemetery, about 1 mile away.

Restroom facilities: Use the left side entrance of the Methodist church, go down the stairs to the basement, and the restroom facilities are on the left side of the hallway. Do not enter the main entrance as you would disrupt the services.

Flags: Some RCs in the state will be bringing flags, but please bring your own flag if you have one as we will probably run short of flags. Please return the flags to the vehicle you got them from.
