Just picked up a set of Marvic Penta wheels, complete with a 43 & 45 sprocket in new condition.... Professor, what did you say you gained from them?

I thought he said .10 and perhaps .20 with some tuning? I recall that because is seemed a lot of ET for a wheel only change

Marvics took 1.5 tenths off of my bike. There might be 2 tenths there. I need to do some more testing.[/quote]

EDIT: Found post..

It will be interesting next year. I'll throw on a stock rear with the same tire so I can compare. I know there are guys spending an extra $600-800 for a BST rear over the marvic for an extra 1.7-2.0 lbs.....

I have the same tire mounted on the marvic as my spare. Next year, I will try back to back runs. From what I have read, .1-.2 seems to be the average. Just curious to what you actually saw when you in stalled them. Also, did you change to a lighter tire at the same time. The M/T tire is about 4lbs lighter then my Shinko..

I ran the same tire (well only slightly different) in the two races before and after the change.

Both were Michelin Pilot Race. One was a 180 that weighed 12.25 lbs AFTER racing with it. The one on the Marvic was a new 190 Pilot Race the weighed 12.95 BEFORE running. So I'd say the tire weight was the same. Previously I have been running MT MCR2s which as you said are a bit lighter.
