Meet-n-greet 2 (2006)

Don't forget the BIKESBLUESANDBBQ EVENT Might be fun to check out... Or avoid! Depends on what your looking for.
Approx 300,000 people and 75,000 motorcycles attended this event last year.
Bug,
That is the first weekend in Oct. Awesome event lots of good ppl and lots of awesome bikes, but not a hotel to be found for miles. I would bet that the majority of the decent hotels are already booked. However, if you guys are into camping, I have 12 1/2 acres that you can park RVs or set-up tents or whatever on.

Peace
Don

I'm in for September too.

Late Sept (after school opens) for me

! May, is Labor Day and Mothers Day, not good weekends for bikes that want to enjoy riding and NOT Stop an Go  RV traffic with the added cooling problems associated with NO AIR FLOW
down.gif
. Also, June, July and Aug is TOURIST Months (and as stated AUG IS JUST TOOOOO
firedevil.gif
. So, if you just want to go to meet and greet. Along with your other having HOURS to shop
tounge.gif
, good. Then  it doesn't  matter, but if you want to ride around and see things, the Summer Months are NOT GOOD with 1,000,000 Blue Hairs, Tour Busses and such all on at 20' wide single lane twisty road

I go to Eureka springs several times each year and never had problems with too many people. If you want to only ride in Eureka Springs, yes there is some traffic, but outside of town is where the good roads are. hwy 7, hwy 23, etc. I would recommend only using Eureka Springs as a pit area, and riding 7 to Hot springs ,or 23 to interstate 40 then east to 7 then 7 to Hot Springs. Awesome route. I intend to ride and not just hang around Eureka Springs. Maybe some have different ideas of what there looking for. Dont count my vote for dates. I will probably make an apperance then ride on to Hot Springs.

I am Out !!!!!!

Doing Busa Bash IV .....
See you in Laconia.

Speaking from experience, don't worry about crowds in the Eureka Springs area. Even when there is a large event going on in Eureka Springs, when you get just a few miles out of town there are roads on which you won't meet a car but every 10 miles or more. It's almost like "owning your own racetrack".

Several of us from northeast Arkansas and a few from Oklahoma City will be meeting in Eureka Springs during Memorial Weekend for some riding in the area. We make it a family event by taking our wives and kids. There are plenty of shops and spas for the women and kids that are not passengers at the time to enjoy. My wife and kids take turns riding with me.

Bugs are only numerous in the flatlands, the rice and soybean farming areas outside of the Ozarks. Eureka Springs is virtually windshield/faceshield splatter and mosquito free.

The abundant vegetation and the higher elevations of Eureka Springs keeps the area relatively comfortable even during periods of high humidity during the summer. To have the most ideal weather conditions though, I would suggest scheduling this event around the first of June or late September.

I have not been to the Bikes Blues & BBQ festival, but several of my riding buddies have and they highly recommend it. Fayetteville is 45 miles from Eureka Springs, depending on what twisty roads you take, so not a problem with crowds.

There is no shortage of motorcycle friendly roads in the area. You will also find meals and accomodations relatively inexpensive. IMHO, this is an ideal place to hold this event.

Oh boy, here we go. May will still be cool, beautiful in the AM and bug free before 10:00 am. After that, very manageable. Most of the schools are still in until June so the kick off to vacation time is still a week or two out. Eureka will still have off season rates and there are so many places to stay, all biker friendly, rooms won't be a problem. As for September...can still be fairly hot during the day, bugs are worse but again, the early rides will be fine. I would caution having it during the Bikes, Blues & BBQ as the area is absolutely CHOKED with people, 250,000 last year. Plus BB&Q is NOT a sportbike event, 90% hardley, clone or other v-twin. The good rides are heavy with these dinosuars, all going about 50 mph. I was so disgusted with last year's event, I dought I even go this year. Plus, as with all events this size, every tom #### and harry is gouging, prices for our normally cheap area go through the roof. Last year, Eureka was totally full. This time will frustrate even the slowest of sportbike riders....However, if ya know the roads, it's a blast to mess with them.....Since I'm in Eureka about 2 or 3 times a month if not more, it doesn't matter to me. Guess I'll wait for a tie-breaker vote. I am however, putting together a list of the coolest rides, you'll want to do them all! I will also put together a list of my favorite Eureka hotels, lodges, cabins and campgrounds for your review.

Hey Moondog, dont forget to mention pointe West motel on Beaver lake. great rates and just outside of Eureka Springs. Stay there every year with bikes..

I'll help any way I can short of actually making resi's for everyone. Would love to lead some of the rides, I will show you guys beauty that will rivil Southern Colo and some of the best hi-speed busa roads in the country. My garage, as always, is open to all busa riders and I've got ALL the tools needed for any busa repair. Also, 2 blocks from my house sits Bill Eddy Motorsports, 50,000 sq ft of everything "motorcycle" a guy could think of. I've got the hook-up with them and one of my riding buddies is the hayabusa mechanic there. I will start on the lists tonight, should have them posted in a few days. Unless I go riding........

Just for your info. the Blackbirds (Honda CBR 1100 XX) will be in Eureka May 18 thru 21 with 40 comfirmed people as of today. Just so we'll know if we pick these dates

I am so excited!!! It's actually close to me. I may actually just suck it up and ride all the way there! Woohoo!!! Now it's time to cross fingers and hope you guys pick a workable weekend for me.

Soon as we nail down a time, I'll post up some of the better places to stay...a "cabin" search brought up 50 locations, a "motel" search brought up 45, 75% in the city limits of Eureka......let alone the historic bed & breakfasts of which there must be 50 or 60. Campgrounds are plentiful. As a group, we'll have to nail down what we want to do and I'll go to the owners for .org pricing. I think it would be kind of nice to get everyone at one spot if we could. Much easier to organize rides, bbqs and outings. There will be a ton of things going on, live local misic, the passion play will be in full swing. There are four rides that fall into the "must do" catagory, I figure one a morning is about right with some shorter routes in the afternoon and evening for the folks that just can't get enough.....
