Misplaced weapon.

Hey Rev...
All active duty soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are issued and must carry weapons here. They must be in possession of a loaded magazine at all times not counting while PT'ing. Some higher ranking members are authorized a sidearm instead of a 16. The Marines sometimes have some cool unusual weaponry such as pump action shotguns with bandoliers full of 12 gauge cartridges.
I will admit that the Airmen look awkward with the M-16 slung over their shoulders.

I am a Marine (Once a Marine, Always a Marine), Let me just say that If one of MY Marines would have EVER..EVER left his weapon in the porta john....Not only would he have lost Rank and money...but I would've lost Rank and money...Then I would have beat his A** again and again...If we were evr outside or living area and didn't have our weapon on us...and you got caught...that was hell to pay...it didn't matter if it was 3am and you were half asleep and you had to go drop a duece....you took your weapon.

Are you sure? You sure their rifles don't have Blue butt stocks?

I dunno, I'll never forget having more than one female Airmen crying cause it was time to qualify with the M-16. The Idea of Airmen walking around with a weapon is pretty spooky. I'm sure it's better now, than in 2000, still gives me reason for pause.

Sure. They are deployed to a hostile area. They must carry and be proficient with weapons. It is not to the level of Army Grunts but they still gotta have'em.

Yeah, you'd think that makes sense... But I dunno, like I said FOB makes sense, green Zone etc I don't see em' issuing them. They aren't that much use against the occasional mortar round.

Interesting.
