Missing Power?

Is been a fun few days, put the bike back together with new plugs, that was a disaster, drove around for hours when the auto parts store just down the street had four of them. Kind of a slap in the face, how dumb do I feel right now? Pretty dumb. Haha.

I thrashed on it for a while down the freeway, rode probably about two hours or so, high rpm, acceleration pulls, get the rest of that carbon burnt off, tonight I'll take a look at the valve clearances, I'm getting a good amount of valve noise, make sure nothing looks off. It seemed to run pretty good, tried my hardest and no backfire anymore, before cleaning it would backfire anytime I let off the throttle in gear.

Check the cam chain tensioner before dismantling the engine.
Also is the airbox flap working OK...if the vacuum bulb for it crack then airflow is heavily restricted...easily checked with the airbox cover off and rev the engine slowly past 2500rpm.
The backfiring you had was likely carbon build on on the valve seats...which has now burnt away so they now seal properly.

Thanks for the suggestions sir. Maybe a dumb question, but how to a check the tensioner? When I took it out not even 2500 miles ago the spring was still in tact and such. Its got the hydraulic tensioner which I'd like to keep.

I know I need to redo the valves as n I did them, I did them wrong, made he clearances tight instead of more loose.

I'll check the airbox flap tonight, thanks for the idea, didn't even know how it worked. I'm happy it runs better with no more backfiring, made my bike seem like it was about to blow up at any minute, and it still might.. Yikes. I try my best to treat it the best I can.
