Is there a better oil for our bikes?
Thin when cold , helps initial start lubrication !
And also better power (than a 20w50) plus superb lubrication qualities as well as greatly reduced wear !
Now if you can suggest a better oil I'll use it..... dont forget its the 0w40 I'm talking of not the 15w50 or 5w50.

I have never tried this oil. Earl (a member of this board) is deep on oil and bikes as a whole. So Earl, kick in you 2 pennies worth... It sounds good to me.

Notraction, I have used Mobil 1 in my Harley's for many years with no problem. A few years ago Motorcycle Consumer News magazine did a comparison of different oils. This was done by a real scientist not some publisist for an oil co. The synthetic oils came in 1st over all other oils. I'm a beleiver but we've all got to make that decision for ourselves.

This "0" viscosity is a bit of a puzzle. The multi-viscosity oils indicate cold and hot viscosity equivalants. In other words the "20 of a 20-50 oil would indicate how the oil would flow under below 0 tempartures if the oil was a 20 weight oil. Comversly, the 50 indicates oil viscosity equivalant at 220f. In other words, the "50" equates to the protection in viscosity at high tempartures. I cannot imagine what a "0" would be unless it would indicate the viscosity of water at cold tempartures. My .02, I would not feel comfortable with a "0" viscosity oil in my bike.

I was just looking at the Mobil 1 web site (www.mobil1.com) and there is no mention of a 0w-40 oil. They do list a 0w-30 automotive oil. But the recommended oil for 4 cylinder high performance sportbikes is Mobil 1 MX4T 10w-40. 0w-40 must be very new.

Personally I prefer to accept Mobil's recommendations. It would take a hell of a lot of expensive testing to prove them wrong.

Sherm i maybe wrong, but i don't think Mobil 1 is 100% syn oil. At one time it said exclusive of the base carrier's. What does it say now?

I am ready to change to synthetic, I have always used Golden Spectro. I have just found in the area Mobil 1 motorcycle oil($7.99qt). The best regional performance bike shops swear by Torco(9.00 qt). I have read the oil papers at GSResources.com.

Any comments on the Golden Spectro synthetic blend?

Sherm that's i what mean , fully does not mean pure or 100% syn as you noticed they took that off the container. I am not trying to start a argument, But maybe they are misleading us. I know when i buy pure POE syn oil in my trade it cost 55.00 $ per gallon.

I use Golden Spectro. I change the oil-n-filter every 1200 miles. Most of my miles come on the highway also. It is rated SF,SG,and SH. I also have used Honda HP4. Both have the moly blend in them. The Spectro is about 6.95 a quart while I can get the Spectro for $5.95 a litre. Golden Spectro has a website
