Mobil 1 - Is it my imagination

I just did my 4000 mile oil change, putting in Mobil 1 motorcycle oil for the first time. It seems to me that the shifting got much smoother after the oil change. It may just be my mind trying to rationalize $7.00 a quart oil.

I think I may have posted this before...but you can get Mobil 1 motorcycle oil for 3.65 a quart...just not at Auto-Zone.

Oil is not oil. If you have any years of experience at all, you do know there is a difference, especially with shifting and wet clutches.

Walmart sells a 5 quart container of Mobil 1 (not motorcyle) for $14.97. That's $3 a quart. It doesn't get any cheaper than this.

Rex Oil company...Thomasville North Carolina...336-472-3000...mobil 1 motorcycle oil...they are a mobil 1 distributor it comes in 6 packs...works out to around 3.65 a quart...remember this is nascar country...guess where most of the race teams get thier mobil one...you guessed it.

As Sherm says, Mobil will sell it to you directly in 6 packs for $46.99, mobil1.com.

Amazing margin, if Autozone can stay in business selling it at 1/2 this price.

Anyone know where I can get Mobil 1 for motorcycles in Ontario Canada. Drop by the Buffalo area for wings occasionally and if anyone knows where it is sold please let me know.

I live near Rome NY. I bought the Mobil 1 for motorcycles at the local Autozone store (the only place I could find it). Last year we had no local Autozone and I bought directly from Mobil. At $7.00 a quart it was much cheaper from Autozone than from Mobil. I'm sure Buffalo has a bunch of Autozones.

I use Motul 3V 100 % syn, i don't take chances. The last time i read a bottle of mobil 1 it said 100% syn exclusive the base carriers. What does that mean? That the base is a mineral oil?

HELLO ??? Is anyone reading cbxchris's post ??? I called Rex Oil,Thomasville North Carolina, 336-472-3000, They sell Mobil One bike oil for the price cbxchris quoted. I made sure it was the bike version. The women said UPS would cost about $5.00.

Autozone by me sells the same thing for $7.XX. It seems like a ripoff.

Mobil 15w-50w is in my 'Busa'. In from 1500km.
Wal-Mart (U.S) is the cheapest.
Iv'e used it in my ST1100 for 9 years and have yet to need any adjustment to the valves. Gear change is smoother and cold starting also.

Regards..Bob

Who did you all talk to to get that price? I called Rex and was quoted $33.60 per 6-pack which is $5.60 per quart! Maybe I didn't know the secret password and handshake.

Shipping to me is $3.84 per case in VA.

For my two cents worth... we've used Mobil 1 in our race bikes for several years now. Byron Hines originally swore to me that it was the best thing since sliced bread... and I believe in it whole heartedly.

In turbocharged applications, using it eliminated (not reduced) turbo failure, which is normally caused by shutting the engine off at speed, and lack of oiling causing the bearings to scuff.

Piston wear also disappeared greatly... as did transmission wear patterns.

Now... in every engine we've tried it in... we've always seen this pattern... from our 500HP funnybike engine, to a pro stock engine, to stockers... without exception.

About eight years ago... I worked for a major engine builder... and we got involved with Torco as they engineered their synthetic oils. As they did it, they kept having us dyno test their stuff... and we always benchmarked it against a matching Mobil One test.

Clutch slippage, by the way, is not a problem with darn near any oil. Additives, on the other hand, can be.
