Mod opinions

Please keep in mind that I have limited resources. But I was hoping to get a wide birth of opinions from all of you. This is what I have:

2004 Black/Purple
TRE ( Currently not connected )
16/42 gears
Chrome Windscreen
Stock everything else.

This is what I want:

Quick and effective, something that stands out as clean and respectable, but nothing wild.

This is what I have thought of doing for 06:

1" lower all around ( Reaper Front and three hole rear links)
Speedo healer
Carbon Devil OVO Cans ( Sitting in my workshop already )
Carbon Frame Sliders
Jinks suspension set-up
Hump mod

Anyone have any suggestions? Good or bad. Should I do an airbox mod, lower more etc??? Keep in mind that this is my girl and is often ridden two up on routine rides. No track time etc.

Any opinions are appreciated.

. Comfort get a Tobin (my preference) OR a Corbin seat
tounge.gif
. Everything else is mainly for Bling, until you get to performance which then turns into Vast amounts of  $$$$$

Corso,

Not a bad set of mods.

What are your goals for the bike?

1" down should be fine with a passenger, it just depends on your combined weight..

But the lower you go the less ground clearance you will have so....you won't be able to take corners at nearly as high a speed.

16/42

I bet that is a wheelie animal...

Let me know if you need any help, I'm in Dayton.

I tell ya the best Mod I have done over all is a suspension setup ,Man what a difference in handling .Also relocating the AITS Sensor,Radiator Temp Sensor to the other side of the Radiator made a big Difference in the cooling ,the fan comes on sooner and runs longer .

peace

All-

Thanks for the replies. I actually expected this thread to get tons of response. ( I was hoping anyway )

Ryan,

I am right on the border of Fairborn/Beavercreek by Fairfield Mall. Hopefully I can get all my new mods for 06 installed next week and we can meet up for a ride. Shoot me a line if you need any help, I've got stands. No lift yet but the stands help...

if you go on long rides think about a throttle lock or throttlemeister.

No use doing the airbox mod unless you get a full race exhaust. When you say "Devil cans" Im guessing your talking about slip-on's - which aint going to give you any performance, and with the airbox mod Im guessing your going to drop some low end torque and most likely a little HP drop through the whole curve.

Jinksters suspension setup is a really good base to start with. Maybe a little powdercoating....get a hold of Vic , he does awesome work and very reasonable prices....any color you want.

Why the speed-o-healer if your not changing up gears? Nice to have, but could spend the $100.00 on powdercoating or on some new gearing. Also, what color 06 are you looking at? Might think about trimming up the stock undertail, or getting an after-market piece.

Sell the TRE from the 04, because with 16/42 you never gona hit the top end anyhow. Could invest a little cash with JohnnyCheese and get his GPS mod which eliminates the speed limiter, and allows much better tuning with a power commander for each gear instead of 1 turdy 5th gear map for all your gears running a TRE.

Sliders sound like a good mod, and the kickstand mod is great if your not real cautious with the way you park your bike - should keep it from falling over if you dont have the bike in gear and rolled forward all the way.

Maybe polish your wheels if thats your sorta thing....costs almost nothing if you do it yourself. Maybe a seat cover if you dont want to throw down a lot of $$$ for a new seat. Synth oil, some S100 for the plastics, and lots of sunshine.

Good luck to ya...let us know what you do.

Did you say 04' blk and purple, good choice. I might be partial but what the heck... Don't know about your size but I'm 6'3" and I've done a few things to make the riding experience more comfortable. The headlight angle is terrible so get yourself a Sylvania Silver Star H7 for the low and a 9005ST for the high and adjust your headlight so it's not showing you only the dead wildlife on the road 20 feet ahead of you. The spacers for the rearview mirrors are nice to actually see the cages before they are 5 feet behind you. Another one to consider is the speedohealer if you want an accurate speed reading (but honey I know the speedometer said 100 but it was really only 87 or so...). As far as the bike running cool I have the Muzzy fan and the temp switch relocator comming to me right now. The only other thing I can think of at the moment is a speed control device. I haven't finished my research on that item yet. Some Tobin seats would be great for comfort for you and your girl but that can be a few hundred bucks.
Now the reason for my partiality...

My mods:

so far:  Puig double bubble; bra; swingarm spools ... that's it so far but I've only had it two weeks.  For guys over 6' (I'm 6'3"), the double bubble is the biggest bang for a buck regarding ergonomics.

the plan:
make the busa into a canyon carver but keep it fairly stock ... like this threads originator ... nothing too flambouyant

Opinion:
I want to do opposite of what most people seem to do to their busa's;  I want to raise my rear about 1/2 to 1" by putting in a stiffer spring ... has anyone heard of doing this?  I'm new to busa's so I'm newb.  Also to get the rear end looking more trak bike looking; do an undertail and eliminate that plastic mud flap below the license plate.  Any suggestions on undertail work?

Other stuff when I get rich (mwuahahahah) ... yoshimura cans; HID or some other improved head lights; new sprockets; stiffer front suspension (I'm 250lbs); plus other stuff I haven't heard about yet

... by the way LABusa, that's my bike but I have a Puig DB.  ... and a beautiful bike it is ...

Is there a way to raise the back end of a busa? I've been looking at springs and rear shocks and I can't tell if there's enough adjustment to push the rear end up an ~1" (plus increase the stiffness).

Does anybody know if lifting the rear end is even possible (economically) ? Seems like most people want to lower their busa's.

Under tails help to clean up the back end but I still would like for the rear shock to be stiffer (I know I can adjust the preload on the spring but is this a way to lift its rear end ?)

thanks

i love the double bubble windshield.

i can accually see the gauges.
Is that a 77 CB750F...
I had one of those in 77 and 78 way back when I was stationed at Fort Hood, Tx...
It was a fast bike in it's time...
Wish I could find one in really good shape just for fun...

David

thats the reason i picked up the 78 it is really clean. i have the motor out for a rebuild now but she will be back on the streets soon.

All-

Thanks for the response. Actually...I had the Risers and Lowering links on my kitchen table for last Saturday and chickened out.
I took the bike up my drive solo and realized that even with a 1" lower I was going to be nervous of a hit.
It didn't held matters that a friend of minne who races AMA stopped by and reminded me of the GSXR600 and GSXR750 I used to ride. ( I guess I'm not TOO old to corner hard @ 33.)
So...I am going back to a 17T front sprocket and will follow Jinksters suspension mod. Rase the tail about .25 and see what happens.
I did put my Devils on though. OUTSTANDING sound!!!!

Josh-
Send me a PM and we will get together.

Thanks again all-
Corso

P.S> I wish I had the double bubble. I got a V-Tech Chrome windscreen and have regretted it since!
