More mods....to the R1

The the bank account still recovering from the aquisation of the R1...I get handed a close out catalog from one of our suppliers yesterday.

My 1st mistake you ask? I opened the 1st page.....

There listed in big flashing lights..well not really...but you get the idea...was a Akrapovic Full Titanium Evolution system for a 04-06 R1....

I tried to resist...but...it...was no.....use.....

My wife is gonna kill me.....

I cant wait to get it installed....but that means...a PCIII, quick shifter, air filter, Graves stacks and block off plates need to be bought as well....

Plus dyno time at Lee's.....

I hope to have the PCIII early next month. I will more than likely install the pipe and run a off the shelf map until I can get some time at Lees for a custom one.

After having a quick shifter on the Busa, that is a must do mod for any track bike. The shifts are much smoother and faster.

I am taking it to Traxxion this weekend for a full suspension make over. Hopefully I will have the pipe and other mods done as well.

Kev, i hope Lee does a better job mapping your bike. The map on my bike isn't so good. Very lean at cruise and on the fat side near full throttle.

Give him a call...he can modify the map and email it to you.

After my last overly large purchase, I finally took all my cards out of the wallet, gave them to her, and said hide these where I will never find them. I'm on day five and having some serious withdrawls.

R1 question - prolly shouda started a new thread but...

I love the '07 black/red R1...awesome looking bike. The R1s are my fav of the litter bikes however...

As most of you are, I'm spoiled by the low end grunt of the beast. I rode a ZX10r at bikeweek and was underwhelmed by the lack of low end power. Oh yeah, it would go, but only after you wind it up a lot.
Most of the liter reviewes I read, say the R1 is the worst in this area of the bunch. SOOooo...I was thinking...if I got an R1 and put an aftermarket exhaust, PCIII,...exactly what your doing V-man (was even checking out the exact same exhaust)...can you dyno tune is some more low end umph?


I was really wanting a C109R V twin but I love the R1s and my son who is 20 and currently bikeless...would almost be worth it just to see the look on his face with red/black R1 sitting next to the Busa when I open the gargage door.
