motor oil

Leave it to a geek to give a very detailed, academic explanation and still not answer the original question. (I'm a geek, too, so I don't mean any offense.)

Is it geek to know both the Dynamic and Standard Friction Characteristic Standard of the JASO Implementation Panels T-904 2006 along with the Stop Time Index ?

That ain't me man. I don't recall the exact parameters  .

I do recall that maybe the Friction Plate Part Number FZ127-24-Y1 and
Steel Plate Part Number FZ132-8-Y1 is used for all testing .

I forget the suppliers name though

Look ,

I am just having fun .

Oil and reloading ammo is a hobby of mine near entire life . For some reason I have very good recall on these subjects and the learning has always came easy except some of the chemistry is deluxe hard , not being a chemist and all.

Arm your mind . Read every PDF file at this site and you may come out with some info of use to you .

http://www.jalos.or.jp/

I don't give out engine oil recommendations on the internet . What one bike needs for it's intended usage may not be the best for the next bike . I use Maxima and Maxima only if that helps .

Good day

common now... oil recommendations are great fodder for debates.... almost as good as tires

And yes I am aware you are having fun...

not too many people even know about additive packages much less the testing procedures...

I remember a Standard Oil seminar I went to about 15 years ago and the guy had some amazing film about oil testing and package creation.... you could spend a college career learning just what is in a can of oil...

Now gear test...
The FZG is very easy to get the arms completely around . The V-Pin and Block " Falex " is the measuring stick of the metal to metal contact deal .

I don't like to talk about asperities on the gear , bubble implosions and fast hard break-in though . Seems the internet see's nothing coinciding with such .

But if one of my engines ever has 4 little balls setting in a pool of oil that I need to make certain the gouges don't get too awfull deep in them ,then I will entertain looking into the test developed for grease --- and read the results . Till then 4 ball tests mean nothing to me or my engine that I don't want "any" metal to metal contact in .

It's been fun ---- seems a friday to me .

This topics over for me .

i will change oil @ 600 miles and use the suzuki brand oil. Then @ 2000 miles i will change oil again and put in mobil 1 4T (synthetic cycle oil). iv done this with ALL my new bikes (i've had alot of them too) and never have had any sort of motor issues.

+1 on the Rotella. Ive used it for over over 30,000 miles in my VFR. Im sticking with Suzuki oil until my warranty is up (for paranoid reasons) then i'll switch to something else.

I use Amsoil 10w-40 in the winter and 20w-50 Amsoil in the summer. (never gets below 70 deg down here after april)

They have good info on their site. Also good compared to others in lots of tests
