Mottys afr tuner

Well, I finally got it for the 08 hayabusa and got it installed over the weekend. Very nice unit. The bike is running better. I have the yoshimura r77 full system, and was watching my data logs before I started the self tuning feature on the unit. The bike runs very close to the wide open throttle at 13.1 afr. Even at most other rpm's. But there is room for improvement. I have watched the closed loop afr tuner make changes to the fuel map were it was leaner and rich at certain throttle settings. It seems to be a bit more peppy and smoother.

I have this system on my 02 1k, and it has gotten it sorted out. Runs GREAT. I have alot more changes to the 02 1k, then the busa. I will be working with the tuner more at the dragon on the busa. I have a good idea how this tuner works and got the best of both worlds for the 02 1k. I got the mileage back at cruise speeds and power everywhere after 16% throttle. I run an idle of 13.0:1 (0%), with a cruise afr at 14.5:1(2%-12%) and afr 13.5 at (16%) then 13.2:1 from 20%-100% throttle. The 02 1k never ran so good and sweet. My mileage at the power tune was 34-36mpg. After leaning out my cruise throttle settings where I ride easy to 14.5 afr, my mileage shot up to 42mpg 80% highway 20% city.

I will be getting the busa sorted out, but this thing is very neat. You can have 2 maps if you add a switch to it. One for cruise and power in mind, and then one for power everywhere if you like. It also has a data log feature which is very neat and helps you tune the bike better to your needs etc. I am working with the USA distributor of this item and will try to share as much info as I can.

Took the 08 out for a few rides.....Man what a difference! :race: Gets better with each ride. I do notice it taking more fuel out in some spots. But much smoother and crisper!

Very Nice Write Up Warbird   Sounds pretty trick, so basically this is a "TRUE" Closed loop system, another words it will actually adjust AFR on the go to whatever you desire?
I know i dont want to know, but how much do these go for? Please keep us updated on the progress with this Motty controller.....Thanks Bro! :beerchug:

A group special is $649. They are normally around 750 to 800 dollars. I figured by the time I got a PC3 and a tune or a PC5 an its wide band setup or even the Bazzaz and its wide band setup. I am at the same price. But this is a true closed loop system. It will tune any changes you make to the bike. I have been playing with the 02 1k for 2 weeks and got it dailed in. My 02 1k has many things done to it. A set of 04 gsxr 1000 throttle bodies, 750 short stacks, K&N air filter, full arkapovic race SS system, Pair removed, and other bolt on's. The bike rode bad. After 3 20 minute rides, much better. I am getting the busa close, but I'll have it nailed down in a few rides. It is really neat to see in one 20 minute ride the changes it makes.

The only down side is you have to wire it into the bike. I had a plug and play setup under R&D. But it was to bulky to fit under he 08 busa seat. But the up side is it will work on any other bike. Take it off the bike when you sell it and put it on the next one. I was sold on that feature too. All 3 systems will get the bike tuned but I like the closed loop and control of this unit. I did have 2 Pc3's on the 02 1k. They went bad. Would hold a tune. Then I a got a dolbeck tfi with the stock throttle bodies. Worked good, but only added fuel. The I got the 04 throtttle bodies for cheap. Better design then the stockers 02's. But ran very rich every where. The afr tuner took care of that with no issues!

Sounds pretty sweet bro :beerchug: Did i understand you correctly, it will also do timing adjustments as well as AFR? Who is putting on the group buy? Thanks again warbird for all the info.
BTW, Last Pic..... Very Nice(Both Girls look Good)

My only thing with all these piggy back devices, is that with the cracking of the 08 ECU, they're going to all be obsolete soon. Think I'm going to wait an see where it's going. Looks like a nice set up though.

Doesnt do timing. Yes i am curious about the cracking of the 08 hayabusa computer. But it still doesnt make it a closed loop system. So I agree the other systems may have issues with the cracking of the 08-up ecu. But wioth them together should be nice. Timing and a closed loop system.

Busakid08 I ll take a pic of the afr table for you to match. How is your mileage on your busa. I had the 02 1k at 13.1 across the boar for starters, then watched my data logger and noticed where I was cruising at on my throttle settings. Seems that I cruise between 2%-12% in the afr tables and started leaning out the mixture. I was taking .5 afr out of the cruise tps settings at a time until I got close to 14.7 Noticed the 02 1k mileage go up. I also cheated and watched the 08 hayabusa's ecu work before I setup the self tune. I used the data logger feature to see what the factory ecm was doing. This bike does run 13.1 mostly across the board. W.o.t. is pretty much the same. I like tuning for power, but wanted my cruise rpms to retain good fuel mileage.

I tried taking picture of my afr tables. Not working. Looking fuzzy! I am still playing with the afr on the 08. But Busakid08 here is what I am using.
0% 13.2 from 0 rpm to 12.8k rpm
2% 13.8 from 0 to 12.8k rpm.
4%-12% 13.8 from 0 to 2.2 rpm
4%-12% Then 14.2 2.4k-2.6k rpm
4%-8% from 2.8k to 12.8k rpm I set it at 14.7
12% 2.8k to 12.8k I used 14 as a afr
Then the rest are all set to 13.2:1.

Oh and busawizard the afr tuner can be taken off this bike and used on another, if the 08 unlocking is going to the new way to go. Another reason why I like this unit. I am not locked into one bike! Either way I am curious to see how that turns out do to the fact that you have more control with the factory ecu. Good stuff!

nice setup!

you can go leaner than 14.2:1 at partial throttle low load conditions. 15's wake things up even more without any issues.
