Mr.turbo

I lived the turbo life for 3 years. The most important thing is the tune. Make sure the tuner sets it up for you. Not just WOT. That happened to me from Williford racing in NC. I told him atleast 8 times it was a street bike. He tuned it for WOT only. My AF at part throttle 65mph cruise was 16.8-1 when I had it checked by another shop. When we richened it up I gained 27hp! But by that time the damaged was done mostly with my ROSS pistons had started to come apart.

I think there are more unfinished turbo bikes per capita than dogs. Everyone thinks it’s easy until the bike never runs right then melts pistons. I recommend finding a builder somewhere and bring them the bike. Be prepared for some to say they won’t work with that brand of turbo. If you find that to be the case, you may want to install it yourself and bring it to tune. Feel free to ask for any help
As much as I wanna agree with you turboing a gen 1 hayabusa and tuning it your self is surprisingly easy. All the info is on the site. You do not need a builder for 300ish whp.

You are a heavy engine mechanic right?

Of course it's easy for a guy like you.....me? I'd probably fry something if I tried to do it......and I don't think I'm alone.....

Lol you are awake to early, a turbo kit is bolt on. The tricky part is tuning. Get a good wideband gauge and take your time. I had no idea what I was doing (A/F ratio doesn't really exist in diesels they either run or they dont) I piled to much fuel then pulled back more and more each pull.

I'm 2 hrs later than you...you are up too early....LOL!

I imagine I could bolt on the parts but getting the AFR right is the tricky part...I imagine if one were to get a BoostbySmith MAX system it would be pretty close....

But, your skills still transfer over to knowing the basics far better than I do...

But a funny side note: I used to live in military housing with my family and I had well trained military mechanics all around me (for some reason) and they used to ask me to sort out their small engine stuff (snowblowers/lawn mowers) as they had very little training in small engines...I was an expert in getting Tecumseth engines running right.

Kinda wish I still had it. My big bore engine was better on the street though.
