for more acceleration you need a bigger rear sprocket or a smaller front one or both. smaller rear sprocket like a 42tooth would raise your top speed (if you have the hp) and lower your rpm at highway speed.

stock 08 is 18/43btw

Dropping a tooth on the front puts alot more strain on the chain.

Stock 06 is 17/40... =)
