No bike doesnt overheat per say... but it does go up in traffic here in Vancouver,B.C.  if it helps keep things cooler I'm up for the challenge of wrapping it

its winter , its snowing... what better than to get some mods

just got my Pazzo levers,PC3,tobin seats, currently ordering my woodcraft stator on the group buy

getting it all ready for spring

I want to wrap my exhaust. I over-heat in the summer in traffic. I've done all the heat mods, (engine ice, second fan, etc.) and haven't had much luck.

how much reduce in the heat will it gain with the wrap?

i am on hmf now and actually place a cloth tape on the side of the fairing to prevent it from burning my fairing which it has melt abit.
lucky it is nt thru but how much reduce in the heat it will reduce is more concern. i am in singapore so generally it is hot if those who been here...

I live is south east Texas. Its Hot here more than its not! With 100% humidity almost year round. I have no more over heating problems in slow or bumper to bumper traffic. If you take off the plastics and see just how close the pipes are to the radiator you can see why it overheats. You need moving air flow through the radiator to keep the heat from the pipes from rising back through the radiator. I rapped they with a 50% overlap so its like having two raps over the pipes. And I have not had any problems with the plastics getting hot or melting.

not the cheapest option but thermotec has really nice little clamps to use with their product.. They also have "blanket" style material that you can get.. 4" by 1' that comes off and on the down pipe in one piece.. I think I will purchase these and just wrap the head pipe where it passes by the radiator and hoses.. Will let you know costs after I figure out how to sneak it past the Mrs...

http://www.jscspeed.com I got the copper wrap 1"X50 and a 12 clamp kit for $59 delivered... the rest of the places I found all wanted so scam you on shipping fees...

Now to find someone else to do the wrapping part....

I was going to order from summit racing. I believe they have free shipping and prices seemed good.

Any recommendation in 2" vs 1" and how much do you think it would take to wrap a boz bros moira?

Guestimate of wrap needed:

The width of the wrap is best picked by how tight of a radius you have to wrap.. 2" is tough under about a 3" radius bend.. I would say 1" is going to be much better looking but take longer to wrap.. I have never used the 1" but am this time

material demand will be pretty much the same in sq in's

I use a 50% overlap that basically gives you 2 layers of wrap when the dust settles..

Figures are just guesses here:

Diameter of header pipe maybe 1.5"? so using Pi*r2=c*18*2/12=ft of material @ 1" wide

you have 4.7" * 18 = 84.6" * 2 =169.2/12 = 14' per down tube

so I would cut that 50' in half and half again to end up with a bit over 12' lengths

that should get to the X pipe..

DEI Exhaust Wraps (2" X 50'), stainless steel ty-raps, and siclocone spray to seal the wrap. All at auto zone parts stores. For my bike it was less than $60.00 and no shipping.

good price on the 2", how did it do around the corners? any photos? they are awful proud of the clamps at thermotec..

mine will be here Saturday... I will pull the head pipes and wrap them on the bench.. (a luxury for sure)

I have not found any info on the DEI wrap so far, it could be just fine but I would like to see it first (half the price is always scary)
