My 2 questions for the day...

Be honest. I have always done all the maintance on my bikes and 3 prior busas I had. I never replaced the "crush" washer though...but never had a leak either. The parts guy that sold me the oil and filter gave me one ("crush washer") and said it has to go this end up and I couldn't remember.

My 06 did not come with a crush washer.
It has a solid aluminum washer OEM and I never change it.

Like I said, Rich...that's exactly why I called a certified Suzuki mechanic before offering any assistance here.

The answer is no, I haven't, and I probably never will, but I've never had a service go bad, either. So I trust him.

Don't get all worked up, yo.

I'm not

It's pretty funny, you have 'zero' mechanical skills and have to call someone to get the info to help out a member with a question...I commend you for helping out, but why waste the time of your "certified Suzuki tech"...there are plenty of people here with the info that will help.

That is the crush washer and they recommend changing it everytime you change the oil.

I bought a second washer, and it is a crush washer, but the one that came on the bike is a solid aluminum washer, and not a crush washer.
No leaks yet after 8 changes.

i see it in writing...but 3500 seems pretty high although I guess the book is the word. I just checked mine warm and my fast Idle is 2250 rpms.

I don't change it everytime...that's just what they recommend. A good parts department (Dealership) will give you a new one with a filter purchase.

The thing to do is to set the lever to the "full on" position, start the bike and then after a couple of seconds when the engine speeds up to 3500 rpm...adjust the lever so the engine is @ 2000-2500 rpm.

I'm glad to try to help, either way, bro.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm no expert, but I'm always willing to lend a hand where I can.

Good luck!

:beerchug:

Thanks guys. I have CRS when it comes to my other Busa's i owned..although I did the maintance on them. My bike did not come with the owners manuel sooo I have been asking. again thanks folks!

It's my nature to do what I can...if there's anything anyone here knows about me by now, it should be that.

One reason I asked about the crush washer is I still have a small drip form overnight even though I tourqued it to specs.

I like to spray the drain plug area with a little brake cleaner after I do a oil change...there is usually some residue on there and this insures that all the old oil is gone.

If after the cleaner evaporates you notice some oil (it may take a few hours to accumulate) you DO have a leak.

I dont have a fast idle or a crush washer on my BIG DOG.Thank God.

But I'll bet my mechanic can beat up your mechanic.

RSD.

I just adjusted mine, all I needed to do was to back out the stop screw a little and it gave me plenty of RPM.
