My 2006 w/full akrapovic bmc race velocity stacks

Greg ... not sure who you're using but the best tuner in the D.C. Metro area is Nick at Champion Motorsports in Herndon, VA ... if you're interested in getting the most out of your engine, he is the man. Drop it off and the morning or the night before and he'll have you ready to go by the end of the day. He takes his time (6 - 8) hours and does a great job.
I took my '03 to him with just a PC and HMF's, no other mods and I left there with HP 169 and TQ 101. Here's my chart. The blue is from a previous job by another area tuner.
Thank you, I will give him a ring asap. I guess I will have to hang out in DC all day. Oh, well...I will find something to do for sure.

Called they no longer Dyno and have sold their machine and Nick has another job.

Ouch ... that's not good ... okay there is one other guy that is closer in Gaitherburg and he is good too. He tunes bikes for the road track. A member here vripley used them to custom map his Akropvic's. I'll check with them before I send you on another wild goose chase

Are you running a EVO system? Also how new is your bike. Fresh motors just don't make power untill broken in. Get your a/f right and you should about 10 more right off the bat. Nice bike I went along the same lines as you with adding some power but lightneng and refining a already incredible bike. Its a shame where you mounted your rear blinkers and hump mod but that is a damn nice bike.

Well if you had to follow me around the mountains for 850 miles you would understand why I had to put the lights there (when I decided to pass a vehicle). They were not visible from the rear we had a group of about 15 bikes and everyone complained about it. It was more for saftey issues and its not a show bike by any means but shows pretty well.

I actually like them where they are...personal preference I guess. The bike is headed for its second custom map session shortly. By the way, I am not complaining about power issues with this bike. It flies, period. A little more tuning and it will be just right. I knew more than my tuner that was the issue. I was just seeing what numbers others had with the same set-up I have (we know no two Dyno are the same some are happy and some are right on:

Akrapovic Race Full-titanium
Small air box mod
G-Pack +3
Power Commander PCIII
Schintz Velocity Stacks
BMC Race Filter
Brisk Plugs

I could have this bike Turbo-Charged tomorrow, so I am not seeking almighty horsepower. Just a smooth, strong, progressive powerband with decent torque for mountain carving. We are almost there..I am doing very little engine mods on this bike. I am starting on a second one shortly that will be a bit on the radical side.

When I get bored with the stock motor if I don't sell the bike before hand. I will give them a ring for this package. I could also get a Stage 1 through 3 Turbo Kit for cost. So we will see.

Here is the 240 HP kit from Carpenter Racing must be your set up:

240+ Horsepower Hayabusa Package

We have had our eyes on a certain radical, high-lift cam profile for years
but just couldn't get the output from it that we knew was lurking within.
So we set to it, designing an equally-radical port to fit and matching 34mm valves
with the combo. The results knocked us over - the port and valves alone
were good for 7 horsepower and with the cam we saw a 14 horsepower gain!
In good air we are expecting 250 horsepower. This is without a stroker crank!

Please note: Due to the aggressiveness of this cam we do not recommend this package for everyday riding

This package includes everything in the 230-240 package above plus:

New High-Lift Cam
Stainless 34mm Valves with "Stellite" Face
Our latest 34mm Port

Complete with Clutch Fix, Air Box Mod and Power Scoops installed

Price complete $4800
Turn-key: Drive-in, drive-out
Port and Valve upgrade from existing 220-230 package: $1400
Port, Valve and Cam upgrade from existing 220-230 package: $1800

Once again Greg, Let me say it's an awesome bike.. I now understand why you put the blinkers up high. You seem to have taken a bit of offense to my remarks. Really no offense here.

I am also not into the show bike thing. Realisticly, you'd have to go over my bike a few times before you caught all the hidden details. I won't jack your thread with pics. Your bike is far to nice.

It's also nice to see a bike that has been refined abit outside of the norm with usable upgrades.

As far as my setup goes here it is.

Motor:
Carpenter 210 Head/Ti intake valves/Carpenter custom grind 385 cams.
12:1 pistons (stock bore+stroke)
Carpenter tuned and dynoed.
I had a dry 25shot on that run but the bike makes about 215 to the hoop on pump gas.

Suspension is Ohlins front and rear. Marvic wheels, gilles rearsets and adjusters, galfer rotors and pads f/r. HID, and some custom hand done carbon fiiber being held together by titanium.

Oh and as far as ridability goes.. The bike rides as reliable as a stocker and until you twist the throttle you'd never guess it had any work done to it.

I just have a average all motor Busa.

No offense here..this is my first Busa, not my last one either. Just playing around with it seeing what clicks. You have some really neat RR mods. I am more into riding than modding, but both are equally fun at times..i am afraid to take the valve cover off because knowing me lots of $$$$ will go into it. So maybe this winter....we will kick it up a notch. We will see...for now the power is just right.

I need to update after my new lighter chain and sprockets go on.
Sharp looking bike, is it lowered? If you need me to get that rear tire scuffed in on the edges let me know. Just kidding
biggrin.gif
The bikes not lowered and those tires were literally mounted a few hundred miles before the pics.

I said I wouldn't post up on your thread, but now I have to. If you want to ride we can get together and do this... Here's my last metzeller M1 after 1100 miles of sprited riding..

Oh and I know you're new to the Busa so let me be the first to tell ya.. The 520 will be a disaster on that bike. You might as well be looking for cases now. I don't care road racing or not that bike makes way to much tq for one. I snapped 2 520's on a freinds 01- 750 with 24k hard ridden miles on clock.

Greg,

Which MAP are you using? Quasar on the other board is the man to have do your map. He charges $75.00 on time. After that all changes to your MAP due to modifactions are free.

He did mine and I was really, I mean really impressed. I think other board members will agree his MAP's are one of the best out there.

hogger...

hpw - your torque is what's important and it needs some help. Stock bore/stroke shouldn't have camel humps. Your torque should peak at 7k. A/F needs to be richened up alot. Just look for the greatest torque gains.

grabntwist - nice takeoffs! they're in pretty good shape.
biggrin.gif
ahhh were they just mounted a few hundred miles before the pic or was the pic after 1100 miles?!?!? ahhh also see the blue on the edges... those tires are burnt out. Once you turn the traction control on you wont have that problem any more of the tire spinning up out of the turns....

My bike runs just fine...ask anyone that has ridden it. But thanks for your input and sure I am up for a ride anywhere anytime. Just so you know Sindwinder 520 chains are Titanium and have 16,000 pounds of tensile strength you might want to check but that is much stronger than the OEM 530. Lots of parts out there if you know what your looking for.

I stumbled across two Quasar maps for testing...went back to my custom map. The bike runs great trust me..
