I thought i would take some time to write a review for my 2011. I hadnt really seen one on here really didnt know if it would help anyone in their choice of purchasing one or not.

Let me say first as many of you know i am coming from a gen1 2002. The only reason i upgraded was because i got offered a deal that was too good to turn down on both the sale of my 2002 and the purchase of the new 2011. My gen 1 was lightly modded performance wise ans a bit asthetic wise.

My first impression of the gen2 obviously was the visual. This part is more my opinion then anything else. the front has very subtle changes from the gen1. the nose and head light are a little different not a ton. the tail end is the most noticeable changes. my wife says the tail from the back end looks like an aliens face! it at first was my least favorite part of the gen 2 but it has since grown on me a lot. I think the black out kit will seal the deal of love at first sight. The gen 2 has the same sharp ride me fast look that the gen 1 had with the tail now being more aerodynamic. I myself chose the black. It has always been my dream of murdering one out. Also black happens to be my favorite color. After a little time in the garage, removing red stickers etc, it looks mean and like it is ready to fight to the death. The black rims, frame, and swing arm just add to the morbid eat you for breakfast look. i removed my grab bar to encourage passengers to snuggle! The hump also isnt as tall and has some nice curves etc in the angles. the tank seems shorter height wise as well. Could be just me though. the tank also has some new curves in it. the new dash etc is very easy to read and maintains the original analog style of gages. It does include a handy gear indicator and shift light which is pretty cool. i really like the mode changes though it will remain in A unless i hit some rain which i still may keep it in A anyway. I am not sure if i really like the new kanji super well. It seems a little to involved for me. i kinda miss the original kanji.

Now on to the performance and handling. There is no doubt at all the new 1340 motor makes way more power. It delivers the power to the ground way smoother then the gen 1 did. The transmission seems way smoother even not broke in yet. It shifts smoother and the shift pattern seems tighter so to speak. i had no problems bringing the front end up in the first three gears. This beast really comes to life after 4000 rpm. It does however maintain it low end grunt so dont fear that. There really is no end to the strong pull this beast has all the way through the power range. This bike comes stock with battleaxe 015 on it. I am not a big fan of any battle axe junk but for the typical rider these tires are more then capable. I havent completely got them broke in but they hadle the pain i give to them with very little slippage so far. one thing i noticed right away on this beast is they way it handles. I cant believe the advances they made in this department. it handles way faster and quiker into the corners etc. The suspension is more then capable of accepting a beating. I spent maybe 6 hours adjusting and fine tuning and it feels night and day difference from the gen 1. Now for the breaking....oh my god what a difference. the braking is now almost perfect. I havent noticed any brake fade yet. It does stop quick and straight. in corners the braking is smooth and reliable.

Well enough for now. i hope this helps anyone wondering. If any questions feel free to ask away. I am by far no pro on this bike but i will try to answer if i can. I know i love my gen2 and i wouldnt ever go back now.

I know 3 guys with 2011's, and other than color they are exactly the same as my 08.
None of their tail humps will go on with the grab bar bolted on.
Got any pics of yours?

Although I did not own a generationI I simply love my 2011 (WHITE). I think it handles superbly and the power forgetaboutit. I have tried to put the handle with the hump does it really fit???? awsome.:beerchug:

yup give me just a sec.....

actually i lied!!!! i saw the notches in the hump and assumed they were for the grab bar. they are not. they are for the helmet hooks i appologize for the missinformation my friend. edited accordingly!

So let me ask you this. The tires on there right now have nothing to do with the way that bike handles, turns or stops? ??? I never had a complaint about the Bridgestone Battlax tires.
Maybe it's just me, but why does most everyone hate on them?
Congrats on the new bike!:beerchug:

Yes the back end does look like an alien!

in answer to your question yes tires do have a little to do with the way a bike handles stops etc. but if you never push your bike in the twisties or scream it down a drag strip you never push a tire or shall we say use a tire really. If you are the type of rider who daily commutes and you dont get spirited the battle axe will seem like a spectacular tire.

Now if you ride a little spirited, hit the twisties like a mad man, burn the crap outta a tire screaming down the track, you will notice the battle axes short comings. I have found through my 25 years or so of riding that the axes are adequit but not for the person who pushes for the performance we all dream of.

thank you for the congrats! man i love this bike.

Im glad your diggin your genII. I love mine as well. I like the black and red but like you, do not like the style of the new Kanji.

I hated my 003's with a passion. IMO, it was the worst tire I have ever had on any bike and I have had other battlax tires that were good. The tire always slipped like it was on ice and I never was comfortable leaning it over. I changed it out while it still had 1/2 its life left with som 2cts and never looked back. My stock 015's were okay....just and average tire.

My days of riding like a retard on the street are long over! I'll never put my bike on the drag strip nor will I take it to a track day. I do ride it to work and
will lean my bike further than most. I'll even ride in the rain here in Florida.
 Never with an issue. I don't think Suzuki intended the tires to go from the showroom to the strip or track. Your opinion and experience may vary. None the less, I was pleased with them. Did I buy a second or third set, no. # 2 were the Metzler m5's and currently running Pirelli Angels.

nice post! I have the white 2011 and couldn't have said it better! Did i read that you took all your stickers off? I would really like to get rid of all my decals including the GSXR1300 on the tail and the kanjis on the front. what's the tried and proven way?

lol!!!!! i dont want to know tech.....
i took the stickers off with very little effort with a hair drier and my fingers. dont over heat them as they then melt and you will have fun then. after i had them all off i used gas to remove the sticky stuff left and then waxed and pledged the crap out of it. no the gas did nothing to the paint it worked well. i do suggest a quik wash after the gas with windex or something. i have heard baby oil will remove stickies as well. i havent tried it though to proove it.

in respnse to the other comments on tires. you dont have to be riding like a "retard" to experience a tire stepping out on you. in a panic braking situation you will notice real quik if you are on a substandard tire. I dont know about you but thats one test i do on a bike when i first buy it. i will try to go from 70 to 0 as fast as i can. i wanna know how the tires and brakes will respond. i take the time to thouroughly test my machine before i go an put myself into a situation that may be panic.

take the time to know your machine inside and out. know how it will respond. dont be caught with your pants down and wonder.:rulez:

Sound advice, BUT:

I can honestly say I have never panicked in any situation I have encountered on a bike, no matter how unexpected. More importantly though, anyone who WOULD panic has no business owning a bike like this. I only bring this up because I am at the age where I appreciate a few adult cooling beverages when I come home at night, so may be in the market for a new liver one of these fine days.

If any member IS prone to panic in stressful situations on a 200mph hyperbike, well, when that occasion happens can I have your liver? Please?

Picture update!:rulez:

only complaint with the oem tires I had on my `03...(not sure if these are any better) is that the rears wear out quickly..about 3,200 miles I think the best I ever did...no burn outs, I will probably buy at least one more rear or two untill the front needs replaced then???

Glad you are happy with the new bike. I came off an 05 to my 09. You really need to have owned both generations to appreciate the differences. There is more power, and its smoother. :beerchug:

Thanks JJ. Yes there is a big difference coming from a gen 1 to a 2. it is really noticeable.

Now on to the Tek man! If you have never been in a panic situation on a motorcycle then you are luckier then most! Panic has nothing to do with riding a machine like ours. Most dont plan on the panic/emergency situation. It just happens that way. I think its best to understand and know how your bike will respond in said situation when you put it to the test. Dont fool yourself into thinking you are invincible cause you arent. There are 2 types of riders....Those who have been down and those who will go down again. It doesnt matter how well you plan you will be placed into a panic situation and will have to respond accordingly. Has absolutly nothing to do with how brave you are or the amount of experience you have so much. It will happen. Its just a matter of when.:rulez:

Finally Tek i dont want to sound like your dad here or nothing but if you are drinking and riding you have way bigger worries then panic. I hope this isnt the case. But if it happens to be take it from almost 30 years of riding experience and not all of it as mature and adult as it should have been stop now! Stop before you kill yourself or someone else.

You panic, lock your brakes, I don't care what tires you are on.
"I have found through my 25 years or so of riding" or was it 30, either way...
You would figure with after all your years of experience you would be able to read traffic situations well in advance, not be in such a position and avoid "panic" maneuvers all together. When brakes are locked in a panic stop you have very little to no control. That is unless you ride like Casey Stoner or Nicky Hayden and Are able to "back it in". Doubt it very much.
Good heads up riders don't panic.

this review is slowly getting redirected into a tire review and a big arguement. That wasnt my intention with this thread and i really dont appreciate those who are turning it into that. This was simply a thread for me to express my opinions on the gen 2 as it was delivered to me and the equipment that is on it. Thats it.

Now for my last response to the different topics getting brought up. A panic situation is not always brakes locked up tires sliding out of control etc. To me a panic situation is when a car pulls out in frt of you and you have to hit brakes and swerve or become one with the car. A panic situation is a time when the unexpected does happen and you have to respond quickly and make split second choices.

Chef i dont care how long you been riding or me or anyone else. The unexpected happens thats what they call accidents! No matter how long you been riding or how frickin good you are there will come a time when you didnt forsee something happening and it does! There isnt a rider on here that can forsee everything period! If there was we wouldnt have these accidents we wouldnt morn brothers lost. So if you please keep your snide remarks to yourself if you dont have anything positive to add to this review.

If you take the time to research and review tires in magazines etc you will find that some tires are way more prone to heat and lock up then others! The whole point to all this side conversation it know the limits of your tires and your bike. That was all i was saying.
