My 2011 Review

I know 3 guys with 2011's, and other than color they are exactly the same as my 08.
None of their tail humps will go on with the grab bar bolted on.
Got any pics of yours?

Although I did not own a generationI I simply love my 2011 (WHITE). I think it handles superbly and the power forgetaboutit. I have tried to put the handle with the hump does it really fit? awsome.

Got to modify it same as with Gen 1 but it will accept both at once.

Good write Viper , I totally agree with you on pucker/panic moments. Really one in the same and EVERYONE will have them if they ride a bike, no way around it and only thing you can do is try to prepare yourself to react to them appropriately when they arise. And as for the mixing alcohol & riding aspect, I'll admit I have done it many times when I was younger and didn't see the wrong in it at the time. Of course I knew it was but that's easy to overlook when your young & dumb and you know the rest. But then again it was NEVER on 2 wheels(well unless I could get the car up on 2, which if I did I don't remember) which if we are being honest most people that drink or have drank have probably driven when they shouldn't have. But back to the point I could never imagine drinking and then hoping on a bike and riding. ??? Just way too many variables thrown into the mix to watch out for when you hop on a bike besides adding alcohol or drugs, hell there is enough of that to try and avoid with everyone else on the road.

Sorry your thread got thrown off topic but glad to see you seem to be thrilled with the New 2.

nice read..my 09 has really been more then i could ask for...i dident have to much to compare it to becouse i dident own a gen 1 but i rode a few and thought the gen 1 was a great bike...

Thanks JJ. Yes there is a big difference coming from a gen 1 to a 2. it is really noticeable.

Now on to the Tek man! If you have never been in a panic situation on a motorcycle then you are luckier then most! Panic has nothing to do with riding a machine like ours. Most dont plan on the panic/emergency situation. It just happens that way. I think its best to understand and know how your bike will respond in said situation when you put it to the test. Dont fool yourself into thinking you are invincible cause you arent. There are 2 types of riders....Those who have been down and those who will go down again. It doesnt matter how well you plan you will be placed into a panic situation and will have to respond accordingly. Has absolutly nothing to do with how brave you are or the amount of experience you have so much. It will happen. Its just a matter of when.:rulez:

Finally Tek i dont want to sound like your dad here or nothing but if you are drinking and riding you have way bigger worries then panic. I hope this isnt the case. But if it happens to be take it from almost 30 years of riding experience and not all of it as mature and adult as it should have been stop now! Stop before you kill yourself or someone else.

Nope...NEVER drink and ride. Never have (not once), never will.

And I have had more than my fair share of close encounters...a few where I was so puckered up you couldn't have forced a ten penny nail up my arse, what I said was I have never panicked! Panic means that you respond inappropriately in a stressful situation because of fear. I think you may be confusing fear with panic mate.

Anyway, back to the REAL point of that post...can I have your liver then?

Hey Viper, can you post a pic of the bike without decals? I heard somewhere that the stickers tend to leave a shadow on the plastics.

Nope. They do not. At least not if you remove them when the bike is new as he and I did. Older bikes I guess the paint unprotected by them may fade a little so there'd be a darker shade underneath.

yup that is correct...if you wait too long the sun fades the rest of the paint but not the sticker area.
Right on tek i think we may have had a misunderstanding of the words i was using.
will add pics in a bit without the decals just waking up lol...i use the org like coffee!

So let me ask you this. The tires on there right now have nothing to do with the way that bike handles, turns or stops? ??? I never had a complaint about the Bridgestone Battlax tires.
Maybe it's just me, but why does most everyone hate on them?
Congrats on the new bike!:beerchug:

Well i have to tell ya,i replaced my stock tires with michelin power ones and the handling is night and day! The stock tires handles well enough, but are more for ride and tread life.Imo

I love the powers! thats what i had on my gen 1 and numerous other bikes. i trust them and know i can count on them

Don't have a post to a thread but it's pretty simple:

Almost same as Gen 1 but on the 2 you end up removing the back 2 mounting points between the actual hump & mounting bottom. So what I did was epoxy a small bracket between mounting base & hump/cover and works like a charm.

Just take your time and trim in small increments and it's a piece of cake.

excellent rollin!!! i wish i could take sweet pics like that...my droid x just doesnt cut it.

Thanks guys, I've seen it done where people end up keeping the back mounting bolts but all the ones I've seen look hacked up and cheesy. It's so much easier just to eliminate them and re-bracket it and still use the inside for storage like extra gloves, glasses and such.

Nice review of your 2011--THANKS! I went from an '06 to an '08--the first year the GEN II's came out. Like you--I liked the changes. I've thought about trading for an '11--but I just can't part with my '08 orange/black machine. It's the only year they made that color--and I just love it! Ride safe!

I dont hate on Bridgestones, but I wont ever buy them. Michelin has always been my choice in tires, and yes there is a substantial amount of difference in the Michelin tire. I didnt have the confidence to scrape pegs with the Bridgestones since I could feel it loosen up. After the michelins were put on I was able to lean her all the way over wearing out my peg limiters.
It all depends on how you ride. IMO you wont notice a difference in the Battle Axe and Michelin if you dont drive aggressive and hard into sharp turns.

To get the thread back on track.
Thanks for the review viperblackbusa and I am in agreement about the tyres, mine will be ok for running around the UK but if I'm going into mainland Europe I would change them, they will be gone anyway by the time summer 2012 arrives.
Only thing missing from your review was piccys, not everyone has seen your Busa, some on here are newbies like me!!

Re comments on the Kanji, because my previous Busa was a Stealth model, I kinda like the new in yer face Kanji.

Best regards Stretch :colgate:
