My experience with my POS Hayabusa

These bikes are ( usually bad arse out the box ) Since you're already working in the head area you might consider a little trick that's pretty cheap and gives you a decent bump. Pistons and cams. Talk to Gixerhp about it. John knows his stuff, I only know what I read and hear. You wouldn't have any problems with the 1441, both it and the 1397 are tried and true.

truely strange for sure.... sorry bout the circumstances ..hope you can diagnose the true culprit

The 05 motor should be fine, I have 78000 miles on mine and never had a bit of trouble. Mine ran a little hot the first summer, so I bought a Muzzy fan and added water wetter to it, after that, it has never got above half way up. Good luck with the new motor. :)

Ok so here are my thoughts here, who ever has been working on this, should have his tools melted down for scrap metal!
These motors are not rocket science at all, just a little picky!
So with that said, the mechanic was not getting the air bubble out of the cooling system.
Im sure the problem can be sorted out, but who should pay at this point!
If you dont mind asking what dealership is this?? Im going to Pm you my Number, for that answer!
I have several Busa riders that travel from all over New England for me to help them, so you are more than welcome to join them!
PM sent!
I am going to give it another go though. Tonight I purchased an '05 motor with 4500 miles on it from a guy in CT whom is the shop manager for a motorcycle repair shop there. He had the motor listed on CL for $1000 and I snagged it up. He is going to swap the motors for me this Sunday on his own time for $600. I figure for $1600 it's worth a shot. I also figured he wouldn't offer to put it in for me if he thought there was something wrong with the motor. He said he bought a wrecked busa that t-boned a car. It was running when he bought it and he ran it through all the gears on a rearstand. Hopefully, this will go well and I'll be back on the road.

Gixxerhp is right. Air bubble in the cooling system.

Tragic story.

Just spoke with John over the phone. He restores my faith in the Hayabusa brand. Suzuki should put him on the payroll.

not that I'm having any issues at the moment, but how do you get the air bubble out? :)
and where would this bubble come from on the second time for him? he said it was 13K miles later. Was the bubble in there that whole time, and just then caused the issue?

just wondering if this is something I should check or worry about.

Perfect example of dealerships hiring idiots with a piece of paper thinking they are now mechanics. Any moron can get a piece of paper, skill comes from success, self pride, and qaulity of workmanship. Piece of paper just means you paid someone to teach you, but ignorance can only retain so much and stupidity can only comprehend a limited amount.

Why I try to do all my own work even if it takes me a while . Nobody cares more for my vehicles more than myself . I know not everyones situation allows them this luxury but this is a good example of why I do my own work . Takes me 2-3 times longer but I know it's done right . Bad thing is if i screw up I only have myself to blame .

I had a slight issue where my hayabusa would overheat while sitting in traffic! I tried to keep it from getting too hot and if I couldn't hit a road and get up to speed, id shut it down.

I tracked the problem down to an air bubble in the system and apparently not enouh coolant in the system to keep heat against the switch which turned fan on/off. I was able to solve this by filling the overflow tank about half way, warmed the bike up while rocking from side to side (leaning as far as I could each way) and shutting off. I let it cool completely, re-added coolant to overflow and did this again! Since then, I can now let it idle at stoplights and during heavy traffic while hot (and its been brutal lately in midwest) without even going over the halfway mark on the temp gauge!

The outcome...i bought a motor of craigslist for $1000 that has 4500 miles on it supposedly and the guy i bought it from swapped the motors out for $600 bucks. I have the original motor in storage which i will do something with at some point. The new motor runs, sounds, and feels good and runs cool which solves one problem, however, there is a slight oil leak. I will post some pictures of the likely source tomorrow. It's a 4mm bolt i believe above the oil pan. After I ride it for an hour and it sits for a few hours it will leave a quarter sized spot on the ground.

i was meaning to post this awhile ago to add some closure to this situation but also so someone can tell me if its safe to back the bolt out and re-install it with some teflon tape or some sort of sealant. i asked the guy who put it in to look it at for me but of course he didn't return any of my phone calls. A**H*lE. He runs a shop out of Stamford CT. I knew I was taking a chance dealing with this guy at that price. He slapped the motor in in a day. I can't complain there, but of course there were problems. For example, I picked the bike up and of course he was in an extreme hurry to leave because he had to do this and this and this. I took the bike for a quick spin and it felt fine so I loaded it in the van. I stopped for some food on the way back home and decided to let the bike idle in the bike of the van to make sure it would heat cycle correctly. No fans come on! Now I am pissed. I go back to my garage and remove the fairings and the radiator is like at least two inches low. I had to bleed the system myself for an hour and luckily for me the motor was solid in the sense that it was just air in the system. However, I have the oil leak to deal with. Oh and also the oil was way to full. I removed some oil to the proper level and that has seemed to help with the leakage. It's pretty minor. It's definitely not a leak between the valve cover or between head or cases. I'll post pictures soon. Peace and goodnight.

Hang in there... once you get one running right you will smile like the rest of us...

Like i said before, if you need any help, your only a couple of hours away!
If you want to bring it up at some point ill gladly sort it out for you!
Also as for the other motor too! You have my number, just call when you want to!

Thanks John I really appreciate the offer. Hopefully I will be able to get up there before the summer is over...maybe in the fall. I'd like to meet you in person. Maybe I can take a trip up with my fiance and stop by your place on the way to Massachusetts. I have wanted to go to Gloucester for a weekend with her for awhile now. Thanks again and I'll be in touch. I'll post back once I finally get this bike sorted out 100%.

Pictures from the lowest point to highest point. I am 99% sure that little bolt is the culprit. It's kind of weird to me that it would spring a leak there though. Is it safe for me to back it out and put some sealant on it and put it back in? Or is going to start pouring oil out of there when its removed or worse screw something up internally?
