My First Drop!

Sorry to hear this....newbi or after some time...its bound to happen. THe MULLET just tipped over tonight...NOT GOOD. I know how you feel.

Hopefully, owners with the CUT sliders can chime in. Meanwhile, good read here:

Kromdom,

Thanks for the link... great info! Have the bike back tonight... missed it!

Thanks to Blanca Busa for rapid delivery of a replacement clutch lever... that's all I needed to get back on the bike. Footpeg and other parts coming...

Thinking I'll just deal with the cosmetic damage for awhile... over $1000 to replace fairings that aren't terribly damaged. Sucks to not have a bike that looks like new... is it worth $1200 more to fix cosmetic issues? Probably not.

I guess that all really depends on you. It's your wallet and your ride. If you're fine with, then that's all that really matters. You've probably already just come off a bunch just to get it. Just make sure you take the proper steps to help it not happen again.

Yeah... gonna ride her awhile with the damaged fairings. They're really not that bad. If I can survive until the 600 mile service--or maybe the next one after that--then I'll put new fairings on and get the sliders done. Gives me time to save some $$ to do the job, and prevents new parts from damage JUST IN CASE she goes down again. Just gonna take things a day at a time, and enjoy riding for now. Ain't much that'll touch her.. heading home on U.S.1 was sure a thrill today.

Was thinking about the following...

My fairings aren't cracked, just scuffed. Most of the missing finish on the left fairing (impact side) was caused by the dealer's strap rubbing on the corner of the fairing while the bike was being towed back to the dealer. The right fairing is scuffed where the tow strap rubbed as well.

At any rate... how much would it cost to simply have a body shop touch up the panels. Sand out the divets, prime, and repaint to match the funny white that Suzuki used.

Seems to me that $500 for paint and a replacement decal on the left side trumps $1200 for new fairings, if I make up my mind to fix these purely cosmetic issues.

something very similar happened to my ninja. i normally shut the bike off and put the stand down, then opened the garage and rolled it in. the fourth day of ownership, i decided to let the motor run while i opened the door. i clicked into N and somehow that satisfied the "do something with your left foot" command. i totally forgot the side stand and down she went as i dismounted. very minor cosmetic damage which i fixed myself but I was freaking out for a couple weeks.

it's easy to let your guard down if you are not on the road. that's not going to happen with my busa.
