My 'N' is ROARING!!!

OK, not roaring, but since yesterday, my neutral sounds like some ghost is giving it a bit of steady throttle. My RPM is almost 2. But when I hit the clutch, the RPM slows. Even when I'm in first Gear it sounds lower, but once I put Neutral again RPM increases and it really sounds like it would if you had it in neutral and turned the throttle a quarter of an inch and left it there. constant... Any idea why this is happening. I gave my bike a wash last night, and it sounded all OK before the wash. This is not the first time I wash her. What is wrong with my Great White!!!

Also guys when I change from Neutral to 1st, it shows gear 6 then in a split second Gear 1. Is that normal. I honestly forgot if it used to do that before. It doesn't happen all the time, but I just started to notice it TODAY!

Could this be that I need to change my air filter or it has nothing to do with it? I'm into 16,300km already, changed an air filter once and its due for service now. Taking it this Saturday. But its about 150km away to get there and need to know if there is anything I could do to fix or at least know if it is safe to drive that long with this issue.

Help... Please!!!

Omar I got no TRE installed.

Wayneovich my throttle's fine. this is confirmed coz when I am on 1st or while I hit the clutch it sounds normal an RPM goes down to normal.

Truwrecks.. how do I check for that? is it in the manual?

I have Boostbysmith's derestrictor + Speedo + HIDS + using battery power for alarm and 12v cigarette plug.

Damn! Help... anyone!

Guys... I found the problem... well not exactly a problem, but found why my N was roaring... My de-restrictor!!! If its turned on, the RPM on N goes up almost to 2. When i switch it off it goes down to normal. Solved... The de-restrictor on will also show a gear 6 for a split second when you click into first gear, and when on Neutral it wont show anything on your ODO, but you will only see the N lit at the top.

Cheers!

Thanks guys for your input!

I've got the same problem on my genII after I installed a bazazz zbomb

any suggestions on how to fix?

Its most likely because at lower throttle positions the bike is running on the timing from the 5th gear map.

I'm using group 3 timing on my ECU flash. If I'm in neutral I don't get a difference between clutch in and clutch out. But, that's because the computer actually knows what's going on. If I drop into first gear and let the clutch lever out enough to diddengage the clutch switch(bot not far enough to release the actual clutch), then my RPMs bump up too. It's the additional timing.

The bomb is basically a TRE if I remember correctly.

So, the fix is to take the zbomb off.
