Once you get used to the earplugs(pretty quickly),you will then never ride without them.No negatives only positive! Less fatigue,more concentration, no long term hearing loss,etc...

I like my X-eleven also. It's light, really stable when pointed straight ahead...not too bad when doing a head check. I've noticed no significant issue with it behind/beside large trucks.
It is loud, and I wear earplugs when I remember to.
I ordered the size that my head measured at according to Shoei. It was too tight...even after wearing it ten hours or so, so I ordered the next size larger pads for about $90. Perhaps something to keep in mind.
Nice graphics on the o.p.'s new helmet. I cheaped out and just bought the solid black model.
I forgot to add I haven't gotten to try out the ventilation, as January in the Midwest doesn't require it.
