Hi

I have been lurking around here for a few months, but decided it wouldnt be right for me to join while owning a Honda.  Well, just sold my RC51, and now being bikeless (is that a word?) I have BUSAFEVER worse than ever!  I had fun riding the "king of corners," now I can't wait to own the "king of speed."

I beleive this is a truly great board, and I have found myself laffing at (I mean with) you guys a lot lately.  The RC51 board that I was involved in doesn't hold a candle to you guys, they are too busy argueing over the best exhaust, steering dampners, etc. to have any fun.  This board seems to be much more mature than that.  You all are a great group of fun-loving guys and gals, and I am looking forward to getting to know/hanging out with the Busa crowd.   :)

Laterz,
Bill

Welcome to the board BF.....glad to have ya here.
The Busa is awesome.........the RC51....also a very cool bike, but when the road turns straight.....see ya.

Oh yeah....they're not near as bad in the twisties as some folks make them out to be :beerchug:

Welcome aboard, Fever...
You are right! I once heard someone else saying that there were mature ones among us... Never seen one myself though...
Now go buy your new toy, and come share how you play with it.
I not sending you away :D Just tell you to get it at busa speed, unless you are a "pleasure delayer"

Welcome, and yeah what MSF said. Get on one, turn it and see...Not the king of corners but it feels surprisingly light on it's feet.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!  :)

I got hooked on the Busa, when me and my ridin partner swapped bikes one day.  I could not get over the sheer might and power the Busa.  And sooooo comfy to boot.  I got back on my Honda, riding the brick of a seat, and it just felt like a toy.  The Busa will be so much better at riding 2 up also.

I am going to try to hold out and and find a 03 Canadian Spec Black Busa with the black frame.  Here in Okinawa, I have found 2 greys and 1 navy blue with blacked out frames, but no all black yet.  I guess I'll just keep on lookin!

I have a Q....

How significantly has the Busa been changed since "99?
I used the search function and could only find a couple of problems in the past.
I read about the starter problems that was fixed in the 03 models. And I know about the aluminum sub-frame problems on the 99s. Are there more problems that have been resolved over the history of this bike?

Thank you in advance...

Laterz,
Bill the :newbie:

Just got home from a six hour 250 mile ride in the twisties with eight other bikes mostly R1's, and Aprillas. These were A and B group riders on a technical ride with me tagging along in the rear. I didn't know the road and still getting my confidence to lean the Busa over, but I had a great time. I couldn't always keep up with those guys, but the Busa is very nimble in the twisties. Didn't want to become a statistic so I left plenty in reserve in case I got in over my head. No close calls thank goodness, but with some more experience and practice, I may stay closer to those guys in the corners. I'm pooped.

Where did/do you ride. I live in the Eastbay, Danville to be exact. Have owned my Busa for about a week now. I ride with some guys from the Bakersfield area, We ride the passes between Yosemite and Tahoe. Hoping to go up to Washington and Idaho new year.

Busafever,
Get the bike when you can, I have really rejoyed it so far, nothing like I have ever ridden before.

I am definately gettin' a Busa, no doubt about that. Just need some help on deciding which year model. I do not mind buying used bikes, just wondering if the '03 is upgraded significantly compared to say a '99-'00 model.

Sane-Man,
That is very wise to ride conservatively in a group of motorcycles. Especially if you are not familiar with the other riders.

Welcome to the Board BF!

Anyway, about the advice on what year Busa to get.... It all depends on what color scheme you really want.  Even know there has been a few people that has had probs with the earlier years, No bike is guaranteed and I think all of the years are just as reliable as the other.  Im sure there are people on this board who have the 99' and 00' like me who have a good 5000-50000 trouble free miles...

I really liked the 99' - 2000' color schemes the best, and still do. And I waited 4ever for a good deal on a Blue/Silver 2000 model because it was the last Factory Unrestricted year before they did the 185mph crap.... I know its inexpensive to unrestrict them, but I wanted the real thing.

But of course the 2001-present are fine and as far as I know, there has been a few changes but nothing knotecably major changed on them since 99' except of course the speed limiter.

Its all about what YOU like though.  If you are buying a Busa, then you cant go wrong---Because it was, has been, and still is, the KING OF Quickness and Speed!!   :beerchug:

And again, WELCOME to the BOARD!

I went on the Berryessa-Middletown loop ride. I just rode my own ride and had a lot of fun. Everyone waited for me at each stop point, but I was only about 1-2 minutes behind them. Wasn't going to get myself killed trying to keep up with those guy's. They ride the loop every week and have all of the advantages.

It's all about knowing your lines and being smooth and these guys just float through those turns. Totally unreal.

That's one reason I haven't jumped on any group rides yet. I feel like I'm so far off pace that I'd be like an anchor at this point. I don't care if I can't keep up with the pack, I just don't want to kill their fun by makin' them sit at a stop 'til I catch up. I figure I'd be much further behind that 1-2 minutes.

I'm gettin' better each ride, though, and it shouldn't be long 'til I feel confident enough to tag along on a group ride as long as it's not a real serious run. I'm sure group ridin' is loads of fun. I can't wait!

I kept putting those guys off since July when I got the Busa, but they insisted it wouldn't be a problem if I rode with them. They had their fun and I had mine. We left at 7am and didn't get back until 3pm and I about 275 miles on my Busa. By noon it was close to 100 degrees and I was completely soaked with sweat. I was completely twistied out so I'm sure they got thier time in.

Yea I ride with 2-3 other guys, who have more time under their belt, but we all get along great and nobody pushes anyone. One guy rides a zx12, he is pretty good. One of our members rode a Hardly, so we were always waiting for him, but he sold it, no longer rides. We get together and ride for 3-5 days a couple times a year, otherwise I ride with one local guy or my wife, but she does not really like the longer days.
Always ride within your limits and the ride will be fun
BTW: how do you bring over a statement from another person's post in the white boxes?:super:?:super:??
