My wife can't hang on

After owning the new bike for 1 week, my wife and I took a 400 mile trip over the 4th of July weekend. Every time I slowed down she slid into me, every time I took off she felt as if she was going off the back end. I took it as easy as I could.
I read an earlier post on the corbin seats with the backrest, I saw the corbin site with them. Has anyone used them? If so how are they? I really think this is something I should invest in.
Thanks, Kevin

There is no better investment for your partner you can get than the Corbin seat with the removeable backrest. Not only can she lean back on it when she wants, but it will give her piece of mind that she is not going to fall off. Get yourself one for the front too, you'll love it.

I have all three in carbon fiber leather.

I just bought a set (driver and passenger seats) to use when I get back, so that my girl and I can go ridin' on the 'Busa. We have been on the Volusia, but it has a backrest and she was quite comfortable.

waddaya mean for the front? can't picture this - how is this possible.. any pics?

Corbin

These rests are a little pricey, but will serve the purpose as it relates to acceleration. As for slowing well it'll just make you guys closer

  Hope the link helps.

May want to search on ebay and try to beat that price too.

Corbin front saddle not front backrest.

I've tested that passenger Corbin seat with the backrest, and it makes all the difference in the world! When my kids are older, I'm going to have to invest in one so they'll be comfy and feel safer...

Good luck...save up your money!

Raider has one and with his wife on the back and that Corbin backrest on there I poop you not... he is actually quicker through a lot of the twisties.

It's a good solid piece of gear and it will fit in a tankbag when not in use...

The Backrest I mean...

Is that seat a little more comfortable. I can only ride about 40 minutes until I start squirming, after about 10 to 15 minutes of that, I just have to stop for a minute or two. It's not so bad in town where I can at least stand up at a stop light, but on the open highway I just have to stop.

exactly why i love my bike, my wife thinks is too uncomfortable... She tried riding once and During a quick stop she just about slammed me so hard my johnson went right thru the tank.... bra and all

Now she drives the escalade and i take the bike.. ooooooo what a great mind some of us have... seriously though. on my other bikes they have all had corbin seats and are seriouslycomfortable. good luck and ride safe
addendum to post... ha ha
while im looking at the seats at corbin.com she walks behind me and sees it, now she wants me to buy one so she can try it and spend more time on the bike... someone is going to die.... what about the passengers comfort, blah blah blah..
I may as well just get a babyseat for the back too.. ha ha.. jk..

Can't tell from personal experience, but posts on this board would indicate that they are clearly more comfortable than stock. They are also independently crafted, so you could get the Corbin for her and use a gel, Tobin or other seat for yourself.

yea they are more comfortable on longer rides
the front seat is slightly wider making at awkward when at a stop
and she doesnt slide into me as much
also she has a bit more legroom as the seat is thicker bringing her alittle higher

Kevin, welcome to the group. I just traded in a 2001 Suzuki Bandit 1200S this Saturday and picked up a 2003 Hayabusa. I had a Corbin seat with backrest on the Bandit. Let me tell you about my experience. I found the stock seat intolerable on any type of extended ride. So, I got the Corbin seat. First off, it's very firm and needs @2k miles of break in. I'm not heavy and  after an hour or so, I'm squirming. However, I realized that what I needed to do was to raise the bars up so I could have more leeweay in where I sat. Corbin will advertise that your weight is distributed over a larger area and that's true. But, if you're hunched over in the same position and can't scoot out around all you're doing is delaying the inevitable discomfort. The backrest is a useful and  reassuring item that will enhance your partner's comfort and security. Although my ex girl friend also complained that her seat was quite firm. I've learned that I'm going to get Heli bars in order to vary my seating postion a bit. Right now, I'm locked into that racer's lean and my butt's transfixed to the same spot. Well, I hope this helps, take care and ride safe.

I have the Corbin passenger seat with circle backrest and driver seat.  Both are great.  The driver seat is way more comfy than the stock one.  It's more of a butt saddle than an bike seat.  That, along with the special foam they use allows you to sit on it all day without issue.  The passenger seat is built up quite a bit in front so your passenger is not leaning forward as much.  It makes it a lot easier on both the driver and the passenger with the passenger is nicely planted.
