Definitely an angulated open fracture at the ankle. Should have had gear on, dumb ass.

not knowing much about injuries.. I was sorta suprised he wasn't bleeding MUUUUCH more...

Some of you guys that know about this stuff....

Why wasn't he bleeding like a MOFO?

hasta be some pretty important arteries going thru there.

Yeah...you would think so....If u look close to the fast fwd...u'll see a guy put a tourniquet on him. I would not have done this if it wasn't bleeding, cause that is stopping any last bit of blood which still flowing to the foot. And that equals= amputation.

He probably didn't tear any arteries as evidenced by very little blood on the ground. The bleeding you see is likely venious and capillaries oozing. This type of fracture looks worse than it is. Not to say it's not a serious injury but he's likely to completely recover from it, although a painfull recovery at that.

A turnicut should only be used as a last result when elevating the injury, direct presssure, or applying direct pressure to the femural artery by the pelvis on the injury side. Only after these options have failed should a turnicut be applied and the time it is applied should be written right on the skin on the leg. The clock is ticking after that and time is limited to get it corrected. Once applied it should not be removed either as a sudden circulatory collapse could ensue and cause hypovolemic shock.

Or you could just wear full gear and likely not be injured anywhere near that bad, IMO.
