Need a little project help here

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here

what DIRECTION of deep meaningful lyrics do you seek? Love? Life? Family? Revenge? Hate? Work? Sex? Although I am not a country fan, the lyrics of many country songs are extremely well written, vivid and moving.
Don't take the girl - You're going to miss this - etc etc etc
but what direction are you going?

I was mainly looking for short phrases from rock songs of all era's, that changed music. The comfortably numb and yesterday lyrics are perfect. Pink Floyd and the Beatles changed music, and those songs are some of the best from those artists. Oh yeah, Randy keep it up, the Dio was perfect, the 80's were my years! Colen, I totally forgot about that song.......and I love it! (Used to love her)

I agree some of the country songs have some of the best lyrics but my project is rock themed. Live like I was dying is an awsome song like that, but wouldnt fit here. I need some more from the 60's and maybe 50's. Think songs that changed music.

here ya go 80's MAN! hehehehehehhee

Cats in the Cradle - American Pie - Stairway to Heaven - oh wait those aren't all rock... ok ok let me think more... I'm a 70's rock baby.... um Little Willie, Green Eyed Lady, Nights in White Satin.... you gotta look up your own lyrics on these.... Jail House Rock, all Kansas [as previously mentioned], I can't get no Satisfaction, S A T U R D A Y - NIGHT

Didn't change the history of music but,

"A lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin' " --Bloodhound Gang.

"Your God is dead and no one cares
If there is a hell I'll see you there" --NiN

Rob Zombie lyrics just don't make a whole lot of sense without the music.

:D
