I was driving today at a good clip, really good clip with the windows and sunroof open and lost a bill I had to mail out. Just a check for 200.00 bucks written out to a business. I lost it on the highway.

Do I stop the check? I really dont feel like paying 25.00 bucks for a check I dont think anyone can cash since it was already written out. I already paid the bill and was wondering what you thought.

Actually, the choice is ultimately yours. Chances are it will simply rot on the side of the road and eventually mowed over into a thousand pieces. BUT there's also the chance that someone may find it. In the wrong hands they can actually erase your intended party and replace it with a name more suited to their purposes. It really depends if you are on odds player or not. How's that for an ambiguous answer!?!

I personally wouldn't worry about it... But people have been known to bleach out everything but your signature and rewrite the check. The odds are slim but you never know.

Here's what Im sayin'. If in the case something is to happen I could easily catch it and report it fraudulent. Right? FDIC up to 100k deal? I dunno. Im bent because I this sort of stuff doesent happen to me. I dont feel like stopping the check though.

I would worry more about someone actually mailing it in for you... Then you have paid twice. The odds of someone finding it and doing anything with it are slim. Just monitor your account and you should be fine.

here is a trick.... call your bank and say that you lost a check book. from number 1000 to 1050.... It will cost you nothing....
And they will never cash a check in that range...

Jessup, I was up your way Thursday. Dude, I love Tony Lukes! I did end up with a dead batt. at Philly Cycle Center on Castor ave. I just got the Honda VTX upgrade deal. The ride home was great. 160+ the whole way!!
