Ok, I've got a wrecked '05 Busa, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with her. I can total her out or I can take a pay out to repair the bike. That being said I have also been considering selling the bike as either a project bike or a whole parts bike, right now parting her out myself would just be too complicated for me. There is about a 15% difference between the total pay out and the repair pay out and this is where my problem begins.

What I want to know is how much would the bike be worth as a project/parts bike with a salvage title or a project/parts bike with a clear title? And what kind of interest do you think I'll find for that kind of bike? Here are some pictures to give an idea of just what kind of work is involved.

BTW, there doesn't seem to be any engine damage and the frame and subframe aren't cracked or bent. The rear plate on the speedo cluster was broken, and the front speedo cover is scratched up, but the middle of the cluster is intact and working. The fairing bracket is also cracked. The left handlebar is bent a little and the choke lever is broken. The forks are ok and so is the swingarm, but the gas tank has a dent and a leak. most of the plastics are shredded.

No telling if the frame is bent. So i would give it up and buy another! And, I hope your OK!
Good Luck

I paid 3k for an almost same condition salvage. No tank damage and nothing bent, just no plastic and no headlight.

I would be intrested in it. Im here in Texas and have been looking for a good bike to use as a project. Im not sure what its worth though....

i wouldnt mess with it. finding matching bodywork, then exhaust cases bars control headlight fasteners wiring gremlins it can get to be a headache really fast.

Thanks for the helpful words guys, I'm still on the fence about what I'm going to do, but I think I'm closer to my final decision now.

I just got done helping put back together a wreaked 09 1000 honda.....what a mess...tons of $ and its still not right. Its all the lil stuff that makes it miserable.
Take the buy out and get a new/used busa.

Sell it! may be the angle of the pics but the forks look bent in.... too many problems down the road...:2cents:

Depends on what you want and how much work you are able to do. I helped my buddy rebuild his totaled bike. When we were done he had a bike that was as good as before the wreck, and his 6 month old bike was paid in full, and he's been riding it for 4 years now.

have it repaired unless you want a Gen2 or if the bike is not crazy damaged and this is why in this current economy
*part outs bring no$$
*Selling salvaged title bikes bring no $$

You could have it repaired then it would be back to 100% and have a clean title and be worth more...not to mention you could just keep it and ride it. Even Gen1 busas in great condition arent bringin any $$ so you might as well keep it and enjoy it becasue repairing it will cost less than any of your other options

I hear the Gen IIs have better suspension and brakes, so that is one of the options I'm looking at. There's still a lot to figure out but I think I'm drawing closer to the end, at least I hope so.
