Need Advice

Well I finial got out on the old girl the other day, my first ride on a Hayabusa, wow is all I have to say about the experience. Did not even go above 5500 rpm yet. Have to break it in. Speaking of that particular topic, I have just over the 1000km mark and need to change the oil, now it says you should take it to dealership so they can check it out to make sure everything is ok. Now I like to keep the cost down, so what should I be looking out for besides changing the oil, and the normal stuff you would check on the bike. Do they do any internal checks of the engine or valves at that time? Did these machines ever have any timing gear noise from them, I not sure if I can hear that time gear noise or not, any advice on what to be doing with the bike would be appreciated.

Thanks Bruce

PS I drove it home varying the speed and RPM, Not to go over the 5500 mark, and it was on March 21 temp outside that day was 3 celuis out, or for my American brothers would be just about 35 degrees F, man she was cool but did not care. Having too much fun driving that 300km home from Edmonton to Cold Lake Canada.

oil/filter change and check the rest of the fluids. do a once over of the bolts and you should be good. also check chain tension. enjoy it.

I ordered a Haynes manual from ebay, so that I would have the correct torque settings for different things. Adj and oil the chain regularly, remove and grease the brake and clutch levers during service. Wrap aluminum foil around the exhaust headers when removing the oil filter, otherwise they will get covered and smell badly when the oil is burned off. Hopefully others will add more tips that I am sure I have forgot to mention.

Ahhh man, I was the only one with a Busa in Cold Lake....Now you go and steal my thunder...lol.

I got an 05 LTD.

Pm me some time if ya wanna go for a ride. Roads are still a little sandy so I am just in the modding mode.

Hey glad to hear there is another Busa in town, you might have seen me out on mine already. I have to ditch the pipes though, way to quite for my liking. Had a ZX11 with a full racing Muzzy exhuast on it and it sound great. Kinda leaning in that direction, does one of our sponsers on here sell that exhaust system? Looking for the pipe and the power commander, a package deal. Well hopefully I will see you around on the road, take care Bruce.

Hey falcon75

Haven't seen you around yet, now that it is snowing I only got my bike out twice before it started again. I think the Busa sounds great from stock, however I am in the modding mode as well and I have already ordered my Yosh Tri-Oval dual tip from "Streetntrack". He gave me a great deal, plus you can't get the carbon fiber or titanium here in Canada through "Parts Canada"

.

You might have seen me, I got the 05 LE gunmetal grey in color. Talk to ya later...

I dont live that far north, just south of Lloydminster. I am in CL and Bonnyville at least once a month during summer on the Busa, we should hook up sometime.

Did you buy at Argyyl or Alberta?

Save the $$$.  Change the oil.  As said above..check the bolts.  Ride the bike.  Won't need to see a dealer for a long time........

I had 7K of very hard miles on mine when I took it in for the valve check. Only had one valve that was "starting" to get tight.

Sounds good Ken, I have had mine out a fair bit the last few days and finially have enough miles to open her up the other day. Man that put a smile on the old face, and to think that is stock. I would say it pulls better than my zx11 and that think is done right up with all the goodies on it. Cannot beat having all those cubes ha ha. Give me shout sometime and we can exchange phone numbers and go from there. Look forward riding the old some more. And no ColdBusa have not seen you around at all in Cold Lake, had a buddy tell me he saw a Black one coming back from Bonnyville today, but that is the only Busa I have heard of riding around lately. Ok take care all Bruce. Oh and the bike was bought at Alberta Cycle.

he he....that was me coming from bonnyville. Had to run some errands
