here's the situation: wife (26) loves being on the back of the busa, especially acceleration and twisties, and is coming along on more group rides. She has never been on a bike by herself. She is a good car driver with a heavy foot and has good anticipation and speed control. She refuses to drive our boxster because it has a (short shifter) stick shift. Rather she drives the SUV (hemi) as if it were a boxster.
Looking at starter bikes, she picked the ninja 250, for looks and reviews, but is afraid it might be a bit slow. The ninja 500 is twice the power output and might fit the bill better. I suggested to drive the 250 for a season and then look for a 650 or so. I think that the 250 can be a real confidence builder. Not for commuting, only for weekend fun.
She's 5'8 and 115 lbs.
Anyone can speak up regarding their own experience? What about bike choice? - all suggestions are welcome. Also, she has to get her license first, through the safety classes. Ok to sign up without prior practice?
