Well, old age has struck again. I've been having a Hiatal hernia in my esophagus for decades and now it's getting too bad to ride crouched and causes acid or bile to come up even with an empty stomach. Don't ever get your gall bladder taken out no matter what they tell you. I still had gallstones in my bile duct even after getting it taken out, now I have a lot of bile in my stomach all the time. Does anyone know of a vendor for standard upright handlebars? I know this will work for the stomach problems but may cause me more problems with my lower back because believe it or not, the crouched position takes some of the load off my lower back. I know the upright position will put much more load on my lower back and I'll be done riding forever. My dad bought me a honda cb160 back in 1966 when I was 10 years old. So. I've been riding street bikes only for 56 years!!! You might say, a 160 for a 10-year-old? Yes, I weighed 190lbs and was a fat slob. I wanted a 50cc like the rest of the people 15 years old but the dealer laughed and said it would only go 30mph with me on it! Hey man, I didn't know better but I'm glad I got a 160 as it could do 80 with me on it. My dad was really good friends with the police chief so no problem with no driver's license. I had the best Dad and I know he loved me sooo much. Worked on an inland oil drilling rig. They worked 365 days a year rain storms whatever may come. Only a hurricane made them shut down. He only got one week a year of vacation. I remember after a few years of having the bike, he overhauled my 160 the whole week he was on vacation for me!!! I sure miss him.:(

You may want to change bikes to a BMW s1000xr. Sane speed as Busa to 100 far better handling and immensely better ergos. Now if you wanna go 150+ it’s not your bike. But 135 is very quick.

I have a hiatal hernia and quite bad arthritis, as well as a few work and bike injuries.

Most of my bikes are more upright and have traditional bars (I like Renthal 789’s but that just personal taste). My Gen-1 Busa, B-King, GSX14, Bandit 1200 all have a less sporty position. A couple of exceptions are my GSXR11 that’s strictly a toy and not a long haul bike, and my Gen-3. I find the Gen-3’s cruise control means I can sit more upright on the highway or long straights, take the weight off my hands, rest either arm. I treat each long straight or highway as a way to give my body a rest.

It’s funny, as I get older I will often look for a 5km or so stretch of hwy just to hit the cruise control and give my self a short break..
